when i read "in the rough" i was thinking rough as in the trees and woods like at como last year. i think might be refering to looking more out in the open. not in rough terrain. you know?
and what bout this dancing? anyone have any ideas? the words "it's no disgrace, " confuses me. what places would be disgraceful to go to? if i'm being honest, i was thinking bathroom. and the girls can potty dance! (i know it's silly.. but that was my first though!)
If the dancing girls clue IS a reference to a strip club, no way will it say so in the explanations. This is such a wholesome, puritanical,family-friendly,victorian carnival
I'm wondering if "take your honey for a ride" is the historical one. Was there a bee farm somewhere? Did they transport honey when there was a sugar ration during the war? I looked in some obvious places, but if that's a history clue, it'll take some research
Possibly. For what park? Como? I don't think Neveda goes into Phalen, does it? I also thought "it's no disgrace" might mean you're "failin'", but it's not a disgrace because it's the right park. But Phalen still isn't my first choice.
I'm having a hard time with "don't look in the rough." Could mean "There's a golf course, but don't look on it." But it could also mean "Don't look for a golf course, because there isn't one."
I'm having a hard time with "don't look in the rough."
I'm thinking back to when I hid my treasure in BC on the trail between McKnight and Ruth. I hid it somewhat close to the trail and I really didn't want people wandering down close to the creek. In a situation like that, I think it might make sense to say something like "Don't look in the rough," as in stay close to the trail.
For me, don't look in the rough means one of two things. One, it means don't look on a golf course. Two, it means don't look in brushy/woody areas, like where it was last year.
The Lakota Band of Sioux resided where Battle Creek Park is until they were forced to move from the East side of the Mississippi to the West side of the river because of flooding. East Side West Side. And of course, The Sioux Bee Honey noodle! Maplewood side of Battle Creek is on the West side of Maplewood, but it's the East side of the park.
I like that noodle, mikey, I'm just looking for options in that clue. Who knows? Sometimes the way I play this game is to look at a clue, and try to predict what the exp. will be when it's over. And I'm stuck on the really bizarro history clue.
Stepp Dogg- As far as I remember they have never used anything from Mpls as a clue. I don't think the st paul carnival people even know there's a minneapolis.
as most of you might already know..."honey wagon" didn't sell sugar or honey ...it was for -Qoute- The `honey' wagon came around weekly and, for a dollar a bucket, emptied our toilets. (noticed this on many webpages.
so honey as in sewage, girls dancing as in the potty dance, happy because they get to releive themselves, and it's no disgrace because they didn't hide it in the bathroom?
JJ's Zydeco Paydirt play for your listening and dancing pleasure at the Half Time Rec on Sunday, July 9. They will also be at the amphitheater at Lake Phalen on Thursday, July 27 from 7 to 8:30 pm.

only disgraceful place for a girl to dance might be a strip club, but something tells me that's just too easy an explanation
this is working now...its so cold i think i froze my oysters off
I haven't seen any reference in any clues saying something about the past. Unless they just want you to find the past event they're talking about?
That's more the way I was thinkin Snowprincess
Jakes at como

Allison posted about the "strip" in BC. There are signs saying people and pets stay on trail.

I was with you Allison with BC until last night...Now I just don't know.
Well I think the history clues are gonna be really really tough (see hedda gabler), so it could be there, we just haven't cracked it yet.

clues! I need more clues!!
Snake...we know.
hmm place is mentioned in clues 4 and 5.
4 is a stony and sandy place,
5 is a non disgraceful place where girls like to dance...

I'm stilll noodling on the Take your honey for a ride as a historical reference clue
AW - you dont like the nevada tie in then??

A friend of mine said a honey wagon is a term for an outhouse.

Thoughts?
oh yeah, the honey wagon, when I lived up north we had one of those stop by once in a while to pump out the septic system.
Although that's not the kind of honey I'd want to take for a ride...

DANCE
Noun: A party or gathering for dancing: ball.
hmmm...maybe something to run with?
Was there possibly a real honey wagon back during ww2 when sugar was rationed?
now theres a visual I didn't need! lol
I remember the ice wagon, and the rag man wagon, but never saw a honey wagon.
Oh, I forgot about the knife sharpener wagon.

that's an awesome theory. i'd be so mad if it was como again tho.

Carebear- I said that last night too, but I don't know if they can reference a minneapolis club. One never knows though.
not sure if you are, I know we all are
I don't care where it is, I just want to get to the right park.
don't want to steal it OT!
Stepp Dogg- As far as I remember they have never used anything from Mpls as a clue. I don't think the st paul carnival people even know there's a minneapolis.

No problem, MrMike. I'm just pleased that someone thought it was viable.
"emerald isle" doesn't refer to an irish name...It says look for an "object" as green as the emerald isle...that's just what I think.
I don't think the st paul carnival people even know there's a minneapolis.
oh they know it, they just choose to ignore it.
everybody needs a new romance
everybody is goin' off the deep end-loverboy
