A speak easy? Dancing girls? There's something to research.

when i read "in the rough" i was thinking rough as in the trees and woods like at como last year. i think might be refering to looking more out in the open. not in rough terrain. you know?

and what bout this dancing? anyone have any ideas? the words "it's no disgrace, " confuses me. what places would be disgraceful to go to? if i'm being honest, i was thinking bathroom. and the girls can potty dance! (i know it's silly.. but that was my first though!)

only disgraceful place for a girl to dance might be a strip club, but something tells me that's just too easy an explanation

I haven't seen any reference in any clues saying something about the past. Unless they just want you to find the past event they're talking about?

If the dancing girls clue IS a reference to a strip club, no way will it say so in the explanations.
This is such a wholesome, puritanical,family-friendly,victorian carnival

I'm wondering if "take your honey for a ride" is the historical one. Was there a bee farm somewhere? Did they transport honey when there was a sugar ration during the war? I looked in some obvious places, but if that's a history clue, it'll take some research

I was with you Allison with BC until last night...Now I just don't know.

Well I think the history clues are gonna be really really tough (see hedda gabler), so it could be there, we just haven't cracked it yet.

KC0GRN

AW - you dont like the nevada tie in then??

Possibly. For what park? Como? I don't think Neveda goes into Phalen, does it? I also thought "it's no disgrace" might mean you're "failin'", but it's not a disgrace because it's the right park. But Phalen still isn't my first choice.

A friend of mine said a honey wagon is a term for an outhouse.

I'm having a hard time with "don't look in the rough." Could mean "There's a golf course, but don't look on it." But it could also mean "Don't look for a golf course, because there isn't one."

Thoughts?

Thu, 01/29/2004 - 10:24 AM Permalink
KC0GRN

oh yeah, the honey wagon, when I lived up north we had one of those stop by once in a while to pump out the septic system.

Although that's not the kind of honey I'd want to take for a ride...

I'm having a hard time with "don't look in the rough."

I'm thinking back to when I hid my treasure in BC on the trail between McKnight and Ruth. I hid it somewhat close to the trail and I really didn't want people wandering down close to the creek. In a situation like that, I think it might make sense to say something like "Don't look in the rough," as in stay close to the trail.

ThoseMedallingKids

For me, don't look in the rough means one of two things. One, it means don't look on a golf course. Two, it means don't look in brushy/woody areas, like where it was last year.

The Lakota Band of Sioux resided where Battle Creek Park is until they were forced to move from the East side of the Mississippi to the West side of the river because of flooding. East Side West Side. And of course, The Sioux Bee Honey noodle! Maplewood side of Battle Creek is on the West side of Maplewood, but it's the East side of the park.

that's an awesome theory. i'd be so mad if it was como again tho.

I like that noodle, mikey, I'm just looking for options in that clue. Who knows?
Sometimes the way I play this game is to look at a clue, and try to predict what the exp. will be when it's over.
And I'm stuck on the really bizarro history clue.

Stepp Dogg- As far as I remember they have never used anything from Mpls as a clue. I don't think the st paul carnival people even know there's a minneapolis.

as most of you might already know..."honey wagon" didn't sell sugar or honey ...it was for -Qoute- The `honey' wagon came around weekly and, for a dollar a bucket, emptied our toilets. (noticed this on many webpages.

"emerald isle" doesn't refer to an irish name...It says look for an "object" as green as the emerald isle...that's just what I think.

so honey as in sewage, girls dancing as in the potty dance, happy because they get to releive themselves, and it's no disgrace because they didn't hide it in the bathroom?
