Dust off your cowboy boots, grab your Stetson and red bandana for a high-octane evening of country music. Maiden Dixie and Mitch Gordon and the Unleaded Band are scheduled to perform at the Watercade Street Dance July 14.
The Street Dance, formerly north of the Litchfield Civic Arena, will move to the Meeker County Fairgrounds this summer.
According to Litchfield Watercade chairwoman Haley Malherek, the change in location allows for more space to build a stage and host campers for the event. Additionally, the Fairgrounds offers an accessible indoor location in case of bad weather.
Maiden Dixie, a five-member group from St. Paul, has been touring for seven years and recorded three albums. Mitch Gordon and the Unleaded Band, from Maple Lake, has just released its second album. The two groups were chosen as a part of Watercade’s initiative to bring a country vibe to the festivities this year. This follows previous performances from the Kentucky Headhunters in 2016 and the Georgia Satellites last year.
“We just thought it was time to try something a little different for the third year of the street dance,” Malherek said in a news release.
