The Watercade Grand Day Parade at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 12, will follow a different route this year, due to summer road construction, according to Watercade Chairperson Sue Koll.
The route will go south on Marshall Avenue instead of Sibley Avenue this year, then turn east on Third Street. The route will then turn north on Armstrong Avenue and end at 10th Street. Parade units will line up along the north side of East 10th Street.
During the parade, the Litchfield High School marching band will perform their show, “Rise of the Samurai,” which tells the story of a samurai who must display honor and dignity through conflict. Band members complete basic tai chi movements during the performance. The Grand Day Parade will be the last parade of the year for the Marching Dragons.
Litchfield Middle School students will also form their own marching band for the Watercade parade. A band made up of Litchfield High School alumni will also march in the parade under the direction of Keith Johnson, former band director and Litchfield mayor.
