The Watercade medallion was found with luck and a hunch.

Lori Ficker and her four daughters — Cali, 14, Chelsea, 11, Lucy, 7, and Tattrie, 5 — were out looking for their dog July 3 when Cali read the first clue.

“Out of the way, and generally forgot, fun can still be had even when it is hot.”

The Fickers thought the clue may have been referring to a small playground in Thompson Park near their house.

Shortly after they arrived at the park, Tattria, 7, was swinging upside down when she saw a “brown thing” under the stairs of the slide.

To the girls’ excitement, it was the 2017 Watercade medallion in Thompson Park, on South Chandler Avenue, between East Ripley and East St. Paul streets.

Cali purchased a Watercade button, so the Fickers won the grand prize of $200, which they plan to use for admission to a new aquatic center in Hutchinson.
