After a mere two hours into the 2018 Watercade Medallion hunt, 13-year-old Victor Franco had it in his grasp.
Franco, son of Melanie Rotzien and Victor Franco of Litchfield, spotted the medallion at the southeast corner of the Opera House on Marshall Avenue Monday morning "next to a garbage can, kind of under some gravel."
Accompanied by his mother and stepfather in his first-ever medallion hunt, Franco was victorious in his search.
"We went to a couple of places before the Opera House," Franco said. "We went to the water tower and the post office."
Franco also wound up searching around Litchfield City Hall, saying that the Opera House used to be the city hall, and figured he should check out the Opera House as well. From there, he was able to claim his victory as the winner of the medallion hunt.
Franco said he has no plans on how he will spend the cash prize of $200, but he will "probably not" share it with any of his siblings.
