Music ranging from acoustic to jazz to mariachi to Americana was announced Thursday for the Winter Carnival music series in Rice Park. St. Paul’s “Coolest Celebration on Earth” will have live music in the park all but two days of the 11-day frozen festival.

Rice Park also will be home to the ice carving contest and the ice bar, serving Summit beer and Cannon River wines.

Here’s the lineup:

  • Jan. 26: My Famous Friends, a cover rock duo
  • Jan. 27: Minnesota Americana in the Park, with old school country Hillbilly band Poppa Bear Norton and Minnesota folks and blues legend Charlie Parr
  • Jan. 28: Trainwreck Duet
  • Jan. 29: Walker West Ensemble (jazz students from St. Paul’s Walker West Music Academy) and the 10-piece McNasty Brass Band
  • Jan. 31: Frozen Family Fun Night featuring Koo Koo Kanga Roo
  • Feb. 1: Cinco Night in Rice Park, with music from Mariachi Jalisco and the West Side Band
  • Feb. 2: White Iron Band
  • Feb. 3: Trailer Trash and Maiden Dixie
  • Feb. 4: Dirty Shorts Brass Band followed by Chase & Ovation, a Minneapolis-based Prince Tribute Band performing under the glow of a “purple” Rice Park

The 131st St. Paul Winter Carnival runs Jan. 26 to Feb. 5.
