2018 Coon Rapids Snowflake Days Medallion Hunt

​In the middle of our winter we get somewhat tired of rest,
We throw on our sorrels, parkas, choppers to put them to test;
We gather for pageants, chili, hunts, and to skate,
To embrace Mother Nature and what she can bring to our state.

​You must first purchase a button to claim the big prize, 
City Hall/Senior Center and Jensen’s Food should all have your size;
Chanticlear, Boulevard Bar and HI Ten Service Center plan to have them on hand,
And Anoka Hennepin Credit Union have some placed on a rectangular stand.

​This year is somewhat unique to our winter celebration of fun,
A certain game will be played in the middle of our Snowflake Days run;
No better way to show the world how the winter we love to embrace,
So gather your family and friends and “ enjoy the season” just in Case.

​As you navigate Coon Rapids to search high and low,
Within the 5 sided polygon the waters do flow;
Drift away from the lakes and the lanes they create,
And a Shoe-town direction would seal your fate.

​Glide from the paths of indigenous names,
No closer to these who often sprout from their frames;
Wind past the roads that where the plumage abounds,
Straight into the realm where they may reveal their rounds.

​On city land you will find it near where a space used to rule,
Over no small bump was the task and the cold was quite cruel;
Something about her, we entrust her to care,
Its home now facilitates over this place we declare.

​With a fruit golden yellow and shaped like a pear,
An unusual taste best in jam if you dare;
These days it is best if you carefully travel by foot,
A November wind was the cause of a change to take root.

​Often in life some may wear many hats, 
Next to this place groomed a star with the Cats;
Children’s Carnival is today at Sand Creek Elementary School,
For games, prizes and crafts and a magician who can fool.

From the bowels of the Bank they will come from the fight, 
If heading this way Mr. Jones would have you stay to the right;
Do not wonder aimlessly like Mr. Brent in the dark,
How many times must I tell him it’s not in Kennedy Park.

​If the conifer way is jammed try this speaks the pop quiz;
One hundred something or something the common man says;
No better perch could he have this one called the man, 
The comings and goings he witnessed not long after it began.

​Down through the village with a broomstick in his hand, 
Here comes Rocky our mascot and looking quite grand;
He spins and he dekes with feet quick and light,
Rushes in on the net and then misses high and right.

Back in the day there were could be hundreds in line,
Shallow holes often filled with a mineral fine;
Here in this place where many offer a swing,
Here in this place where at night the sky was the king.

Just over the barrier from where the Harmon would be home,
Just out of the field where Kirby would roam;
The Chili Challenge is today, to the VFW if you wish,
With the Super Bowl here we should have made it HOT DISH.

Speaking of food here this place is quite new,
Walking tacos and hot dogs to name just a few;
From the opposite corner as the story would go,
You may see Rocky out digging for his ball in the snow.

Final clues would have put you up at the trail intersection above the pond and talked of the ground level trail lights. By Sunday I think even Brent could have found it. I hope you had fun.
