The Big Freeze coming to Albert Lea this weekend

ALBERT LEA, Minn.—The Big Freeze is coming to Albert Lea (lee) this weekend.

It’s the southern Minnesota community’s first major winter festival in recent years. The events include a broomball tournament, polar plunge, chili cookoff, softball tournament, medallion hunt, children’s winter carnival, skydiving, snowmobile runs, ice fishing and a concert by the Canyon Cowboys.

Most of the activities will take place Saturday on Albert Lea Lake.

Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Susie Petersen tells the Albert Lea Tribune that the Big Freeze is pattered after the Winter Games in Okoboji, Iowa.
