Larry Jaehnert is at the Apache antique show, ending Sunday. He has buttons from 1937- 1990's, probably all of them. If you're interested, tell him I sent you. You'll get a great deal, and he pays the sales tax.
More info coming concerning the 1917 button I lost at auction, and other Carnival memorabilia.
I think most of you know about this button and auction. It was absolutely mint, and one that I didn't have. I talked to the person who had it listed on eBay today. The gentleman who was high bidder is crippled, and he had a friend go to Larry's shop to pick up the button.
When Larry took it out of the plastic protective holder, one of the ribbons was torn off. They are silk, and very fragile. He made the deal anyway, cutting $50.00 off, and including more buttons.
My point in telling this story is this:
If you have something similar that is valuable/sentimental, be very careful what you store it in. And be very careful when you remove it.
I had a dream last night that I found the Medallion. But when I went to turn it in, it had somehow turned into something else. Instead of a small blue disc, it had become a larger, clear disk with a hole in the middle. And then they wouldn't give me the money because it wasn't the Medallion I was turning in. But I couldn't figure out what had happened to it.
I would interpret that as- Through medallion hunting you found a prize, but it wasn't the prize you expected (the med), but something with more personal value than monetary value. And its up to you to figure out what that is.
That's Weird AW! Marley had a dream last night about the Med Hunt also. He said everyone was standing around at a park that has a school by it, everyone was talking about where had it been found, and by whom. You asked one of the teachers from the school and she said "Joanne from class room 172"
There were no plates made this year...may be the end of the run.

This year was just a bad year all the way around. How many of the plates do you have? If I remember correctly, you have them from the mid-70s on? Cool looking plate by the way.
I noticed
<http://coolercrew.com> was down yesterday (and still down today),so I e-mailed Greg Sax. He's looking into it. Hopefully, coolercrew.com won't go the way of the Water Cooler.

jt, the thread's been active since what? 330 this afternoon? you mean you actually work when you're at work? :)
I had a productive day at work today. Got a lot done, including starting this thread. I figured I'd get an early start on it and work out the bugs before next January.
i made a remarkable discovery today while perusing at&t's web site. i have aol instant messenger access from my cell phone. all it costs me is 10 cents for every message i send. could come in very handy during the hunt.
Ian, I think your poll may be confusing to people. The Poll question was should they have shut down the site without warning? And I think you meant for the answer to be an obvious "No." But then in the little explanation underneath that, you end it with the question, "Do you care?" and I think that is prompting people to answer "Yes".
As far as I can tell, I'm not invited, but I seem to be here anyway if that tells you anything. THX must have been assuming I really am the cluewriter and didn't want me to see what everyone was saying. :-P
Personally, I don't know if I'd worry about lurkers too much. The people who only log on to see the discussion of the hunt, during the hunt, are probably not going to find their way over here anyway unless someone launches a major publicity campaign to attract them here.
Actually, you were the last username on the list "Wonderland, Alice) so you got cut off on accident from my posted list, even though you were given access.
Just as long as it's not at the Fairgrounds !
Or Minneapolis!
Minneapolis.....a lesser suburb of our beloved St.Paul.
Whatever gets you through the nite, Scribe.

Wow Ian! Way to go! What a bargain!
Ha Ha Ha Ha HA
You da man!
Is anybody still wearing their 2002 carnival button?
Nope, they're packed away with the rest. I picked up the buttons today, near Powderhorn Park. So, it wasn't too far from work.
Powderhorn Park......I love that story.

have you tried it? I took a quick look at it...seems you have to remember codes, or something?
You mean no more statkidwinners?
Can you add names of people not registered here? I couldn't.
Can you add names of people not registered here? I couldn't.
Nope, they gotta be a registered user.
You mean no more statkid winners?
Hopefully not!
I'm hoping it's a Coolerhead next year.

doh. i answered the do you care question.
So did I. Hmmmmmmm
As far as I can tell, I'm not invited.
You were invited, that's why you're here. :-)
Actually, you were the last username on the list "Wonderland, Alice) so you got cut off on accident from my posted list, even though you were given access.
I'm rambling. I'll shut up now.
it is rather humorous to look at the list with the "last" names before the "first" and "middle" names.
LOL, THX! I thought it was going to be some sort of Special Invitational Medallion Hunt ( Kind of like an Invitational Golf Tournement) :›
no artemis. its a special medallion hunt conversation. :)
i was just thinking though. adding someone to the invitee list would be a rather touchy thing to do wouldn't it?
