Hopefully it will keep this topic to here, I'm not saying no one wants to discuss it because it's important to many. but it seems like it always spilled into everything.
Which prevents a bloody component of American women and girls from joining the quarter million females who perish needlessly around the world each year because it's their fatal misfortune to live in backward, benighted lands where abortion is outlawed.
A conservative reading the foregoing paragraph would focus on the word "needlessly" and then assert, in the most sexist and arbitrary way, that there's no "need" for those deaths to occur...if only "proper responsibility" were displayed and nobody opted for an abortion.
And who, in general, are such conservatives?
Opponents of sex education and birth control, the greatly liberalized use of which would significantly reduce unacceptable pregnancies.
Zealots championing "the rights of the unborn" who, blithely and tellingly, become staunch obstructionists of governmental spending for programs designed to enhance the quality of and "right" to life of often very needy children once they're born. You know who I mean: the hypocritical reactionaries who vote to defund Head Start and WIC, or Reading is Fundamental -- or the entire notion of federal assistance to poor familes. The same ones who can always be counted on to resist minimum wage hikes, or proposals for affordable health and day care.
The selfish, thoughtless SOB's who'll do everything they can to make prospective mothers lives difficult to degrees that no well-to-do, conservative white male can begin to fathom... and do it so that socialism for the rich can be assured for often very profitable firms, in the form of corporate welfare.
Multinational corporations which, routinely, run dreadful, exploitative, sweatshop operations around the world, thwarting full develoment of native economies on popular terms, thereby keeping women (and men as well) so impoverished that children beyond a certain number, or sometimes any children at all, is an economic impossibility.
So those women -- whom their conservative critics say should just have babies anyway -- put their lives on the line out of sheer desperation when they find they're pregnant.
Thousands upon thousands die in the aseptic realm of blackmarket butchery.
And that's what we should bring back to our country -- just because some screwballs defy medical, scientific and legal truth by ridiculously asserting that aborting a fetus is "murder", in terms no different than someone shooting a 7-11 clerk in the face during an armed robbery?!
Check around. Ask your grandmother. Or an older aunt.
Tell them to tell you what life, and death, were like for American females before Roe v. Wade exereted its liberating, lifesaving influence on our nation's gender majority.
Defend legal, safe, affordable and easily accessible abortion with all the might and right that's in you.
How many luxurious homes did Ken Lay have in Aspen alone? Four, or was it five?
How much of a retirement prospect do countless Enron employees have?
None.
Not to mention NO income, which brings fearful crisis to thousands of debt-ridden workingclass lives.
Meanwhile, the White House continues to stonewall on disclosing what transpired during Dick Cheney's energy task force meetings, which polls show a majority of the American people feel is being done to hide favors granted to the corporations that bankrolled the Bush campaign...doubtlessly out of an expectation that here was a guy, a fellow oil man, who'd fully do their bidding.
Maybe one, two, perhaps three of those Lay homes, and other properties built by other Enron thieves, should be seized by the state and turned over to company employees and their families that stand to be put out on the street due to an inability to meet mortgage or rent payments.
Or turned into clinics where Enron workers' kids could get health care.
What's that got to do with abortion?
Well, I'm one who believes that there actually are very few truly and purely "pro-life" people in the reactionary anti-choice movement, and that it's fundamentally an emotion-exploiting diversionary con whose real goal is to strip women of their most essential right, thereby rendering them powerless to effectively battle for what scares corporate-loyal conservatives the most.
Namely that America's primarily female service-sector workforce, comprised chiefly of poorly-paid women whose status is a source of massive superprofits for business, might engage in mass-scale unionization, thus forcing an end to the huge pay-equity gaps that continue to plague American female workers.
After all, the fastest growth in AFL-CIO organizing has been precisely in that sector.
I support a free choice on abortion from the simple standpoint that only each woman or girl, in her own unique situation, can know what's required in her particular, painful life circumstance.
The notion of some crackpot-crazy "moralist" living in San Diego, say, telling a female in Detroit (whom he obviously doesn't know!) that she'd be "selfish" and, yes, a "murderer" for terminating an objectively unacceptable pregnancy...is outrageous, sexist tyranny.
But, beyond that, I understand what a direly disadvantaged political and economic status America's gender majority would face, in a corporate world where Enron's ruthless greed is just the iceberg tip, if THE pivotal female right were abolished.

I support a free choice on abortion from the simple standpoint that only each woman or girl, in her own unique situation, can know what's required in her particular, painful life circumstance. Utter and complete nonsense. The same would apply for the run of the mill homicide for money.
The reference to the doobie brothers was just totally irrelevant and meaningless. It is a phrase that means people can fool themselves: "But what a fool believes he sees No wise man has the power to reason away"
You acccuse me being arrogant by decalring my opinion on the destination of your immortal soul and then you ask me whether Christ would bomb abortion clinics? Do you see a discrepancy here, fold? You need to be more consistent.
If fold doesn't think I should comment on whether God is going to condemn someone to a firey afterlife, how can he ask me to comment on what Christ would do?
Jethro, this is your last warning. Keep the personal insults to yourself. They contribute nothing to this forum.
Sloop, this is your last warning also. Quit feeding the fires. I don't need this crap and it's easiest for me to simply block those that I have trouble with.
Tell me how does the above rank as a personal attack? It was directed at fold for writing the following: "Of course, all our rantings on the subject are just bullshit, as Lance has said. It really doesn't matter what we think."
I didn't attack. All I did was repeat something you wrote Jethro. Then I said I wasn't going to touch it. If there's an insult there, you're creating it in your own mind sweetie.
Will you answer the question would Christ bomb abortion clinics when I ask it?
After all, we have never discussed religion or abortion before so you should have no excuses to not answer it like you do when Bill or THX ask it, right?
Wow, you're good. O.K how about a couple million and a ham on rye with mustard ?
Thanks, for the new threads THX !
You ARE good, J.T., no doubt about it.
But how are we going to entice jethro in here and slam the door on him?
LOL Muskwa, you crack me up ! :)
Hopefully it will keep this topic to here, I'm not saying no one wants to discuss it because it's important to many. but it seems like it always spilled into everything.
Thanks again THX !
Here jethro jethro jethro.
Is Jethro for or against abortion?
Is Jethro for or against abortion?
I can never tell, he's so ambiguous about his beliefs. Or the beliefs he has been told to believe.
Yeah, he's so wishy-washy.
It is people like you, frosti, that fall lock step behind the crowd.
It is people like you, frosti, that fall lock step behind the crowd.
Yep. All in all, I'm just another brick in the wall.
You got that right.
Jethro, ya big silly.
Abortion is still legal. And safe.
Which prevents a bloody component of American women and girls from joining the quarter million females who perish needlessly around the world each year because it's their fatal misfortune to live in backward, benighted lands where abortion is outlawed.

Nothing could be more important.
Jethro, Think Christ would go around bombing clinics?
<...socialism for the rich...>
That's an oxymoron.
So, Dennis, you're a socialist, but you exclude the rich. What happens to them when you take everything away from them and give it to your buddies?
Oh, yeah, they're on their own.
Just like YOU SAY "conservatives" tell the poor now.

I've seen enough of Andy's twisted views on this topic to even be surprised. I'm sure he will be spamming this thread any day now. Just wait.
You have to be twisted not to see that abortion is an abomination along with homosexuality and some of the other abhorant behaviors.
Andy can't hold his case no matter what new name he signs up as.
"and some of the other abhorant behaviors. "
I guess voting Democrat would fall into this catch-all phrase.
Having an abortion although illegal would be a CHOICE!

The bad news came in their second conclusion, which surely should have gotten front page headlines - there is no or insufficient evidence to conclude that condoms are effective in preventing transmission of gonorrhea in women, chlamydial infection, trichomoniasis, genital herpes, syphilis, chancroid or HPV.
Why the sparse coverage? Smith thinks it’s partly because reporters and editors tend to see the stem cell issue through the prism of abortion – meaning they favor embryonic research in part because they think that opposing embryonic research would put them in the same camp as those who oppose abortion.
The great condom fraud and cover-up
Ah, that Pat Buchanan, he always cheers me up! har har!
The reference to the doobie brothers was just totally irrelevant and meaningless. It is a phrase that means people can fool themselves: "But what a fool believes he sees
No wise man has the power to reason away"
Ha! I got jethro to say "doobie"
You acccuse me being arrogant by decalring my opinion on the destination of your immortal soul and then you ask me whether Christ would bomb abortion clinics? Do you see a discrepancy here, fold? You need to be more consistent.
I don't see a discrepancy. I'm also interested in your answer Jethro.

bullshit qualifies as bad language? you guys really ought to check out the rest of the site then!
How much crap do we have to take from the above poster? It's time to end this little boy's fun by taking away his priviledge to post.
Jethro, this is your last warning. Keep the personal insults to yourself. They contribute nothing to this forum.
Sloop, this is your last warning also. Quit feeding the fires. I don't need this crap and it's easiest for me to simply block those that I have trouble with.
all of your rantings are, fold!

Jethro, don't play stupid with me. I have zero tolerance right now.
I am not playing stupid. I don't see it as a personal attack.
I am not playing stupid.
Not gonna touch it. lol Sorry Jethro, you left yourself open. Don't ban me THX.
BAN FROSTI!
BAN FROSTI!
For what? I see no personal attack. Seems that Frosti learned to play the game fairly quickly.
:-)
I didn't attack. All I did was repeat something you wrote Jethro. Then I said I wasn't going to touch it. If there's an insult there, you're creating it in your own mind sweetie.
My post was a JOKE! Because you wrote "Don't ban me THX." Geezzzz...
I was just kiddin' too.
Frosti called Jethro "Sweetie"!
hehehehe
i wasn't gonna touch that one, thx :) frosti's just spent too much time in bhorc re-education camp is all.
Prison life will to that to you. Thanks again Ares.
its not prison, frosti. its re-education camp. there's a difference.
Tell that to Elian Gonzalez!!!
Thanks Fold, good chuckle there.
"You morraly corrupt excuse for a human being."
So was this a joke too? Or just a good old fashioned personal attack?
Jethro,
Will you answer the question would Christ bomb abortion clinics when I ask it?
After all, we have never discussed religion or abortion before so you should have no excuses to not answer it like you do when Bill or THX ask it, right?
nadho, Jethro will never answer that question.
