No one has ever found the medallion after so few clues! Was this hunter so very clever and lucky, or might there be another explanation?
The hunter deserves credit for guessing right on the location of the park. But he also admitted that he followed a set of tracks in the snow to the hidden treasure. Since the medallion was encased in a "chunk of ice," this leads me believe that it was hidden just shortly before the contest started.
The person hiding the treasure seems to have walked out, leaving a set of fresh tracks to follow. Common sense suggests that no precautions were taken to avoid the obvious.
This is two years in a row that hunters have been let down. A second hunt is commendable, but I hope this incompetence is a temporary phenomenon.
