Serving booze at street dance requires ordinance change

Submitted by Joe Medallion (not verified) on

To serve beer at a street dance planned in Litchfield this summer, the city will need to rewrite an ordinance prohibiting alcohol sales at such events.

City Council took a step toward amending that ordinance Monday to allow alcohol sales. A second reading and public notice must occur before the new law takes effect, which should happen in time for the July 9 dance at the Litchfield Civic Arena parking lot.

The dance, to feature Kentucky Headhunters as the headlining band, coincides with Watercade's 60th anniversary.

Event organizers also plan to ask Litchfield’s past Watercade royalty, grand marshals, Aquatenial Award recipients and others to attend the dance.
