The Litchfield Watercade Royalty hosted a book drive in Central Park on May 21 as part of their upcoming volunteer project.
The royalty gathered more than 2,000 books, which filled at least two truck beds full of boxes. The books will be used to stock the royalty’s Little Green Libraries that will be spread through Litchfield.
The Little Green Libraries, which are free to use, are small houses on posts that hold books. Unlike a regular library, the books in these houses do not have a return date and can be kept. If books aren’t returned, the reader should replace the book with another.
The royalty expect to place the Little Libraries around Litchfield in mid-June.
