2020 The Jacens Stash Medallion Hunt

The Jacens Stash Medallion will be Stashed in a Public Park within Portland City Boundaries.
Starting May 1st @ 12:00 pm clues will be released daily, up to 15 clues (only if necessary).
5 - 10 $ suggested donations but not required for participation ANYONE can FIND the Medallion!
100 % of donations collected will go to the Finder!
Finder will also receive a Secret PRIZE I've donated at a value greater then $ 100 !
No search tools will be needed in finding the medallion.
It will NOT be hidden in any unsafe areas for Medallion Hunting. It will NOT be hidden in a garden of any sort (including The International Test Rose Garden), forest restorations/areas under construction, prohibited for sensitive habitat, in water...ect.
Please use common sense: Safety First!
Search don't Damage!
Any and all Participants are responsible for their own decisions and actions.
Will not be hidden anywhere contradictory to Covid - 19 Park Policies. As well, all of those policies and social distancing shall be adhered too.
Medallion will be cleaned with disinfectant and stashed while using gloves and mask!
Be safe! Have FUN! and prepare for ADVENTURE!

The official meaning of the clue.

Park features/description. The game is afoot, refers to the paths, but also how you’ll have to get out on foot to find the clues. “Leave you sitting pretty” is reference to the medallion placed in leaves, near a park bench and the Surprise Prize a Meier & Frank fur coat you could be wearing if you win. Mark and sitting (twice) are a clue for the benches and bench marks.

The official meaning of the clue.

This clue starts with neighborhood, and that’s how it ends with SW Lincoln St. and SW Boones Ferry Rd. residing within the neighborhood of each other and leading into the search area. Ironically enough they are 4 miles apart and that’s the exact same distance apart that Mordecai Lincoln and Squire (companion) Boone lived when they knew each other as friends and neighbors (Quakers) in Pennsylvania (~mid 1700’s). Who knew their offspring (great great grand sons) or (Suns) would be such bright shining stars that they would carry their last names all the way across the nation to reside in the the same Neighborhood again (starts where it ends). The Mordecai Lincoln House and Daniel Boone Homestead are both on the National Historical register.

The official meaning of the clue.

Urging you to go lumbering around the park, and to try very hard to remember a measuring device, or sizer (aka Molly Sizer B.M.) because this is the bench nearest the medallion. To win this race, don’t get caught off base refers to how you’re going to have to stay sharp and avoid getting mistaken. Because “Pocket of Paradise” refers to the memorial bench marked: “~Gabriel Park was a pocket of paradise FOR Steve, Cody, and Meeshka”. But “your VERY OWN pocket of paradise” for which your medallion is IN was a green wrapper, made from a decorative palm tree.

It’s Hot Dogs! White Man, Saratoga and San Francisco are all Clark Gable movies. He worked as a tie (ties) salesman at Meier & Frank Department store. An Accolade, Academy Award or Oscar. Turns Meier (Oscar Meyer) into a hot dog. But the trick is to connect the missing Links (hot dogs) or Franks!

The buildings (build) Are the Frank Estate and the Lloyd Frank House, which lie on either sides of the park.

Mary Mary quite contrary. Not In Garden Home, but next to it. Not in the community garden, but adjacent. Obey is in reference to the “Obey Scoop laws” signs.

From SW Tower Way to the woods, go through the medallion is on the other side. Forth to (or 4th 2, is a hint towards SW 42nd Ave. a park entrance). Settled is another reference to the leaves the medallion was placed on. The titan, Atlas (Atlas Immersion School) was revealed so as to differentiate from the Lewis and Clark Memorial Column in Washington Park.

The official meaning of the clue.

The word Optical is an anagram for Capitol as in Capitol Hwy. Stare and clear up, allude to the medallion being up the stairs in the clearing. There’s a painted shed (there), art work that looks like a forest setting (optical illusion) and the medallion is (here). Seem (seam) and clear were very subtle references to the creek. Also there’s research from Cambridge University about the way your brain processes words which allows you read the full word at once and comprehend it even if the middle letters are out of order, this creates an optical illusion and I used this device and the words optical illusion to indicate the anagram.

John Fuez is your Dairyman. He worked for the the Tannlers and the Gabriels before marrying into the Gabriel family and becoming John of John’s Market. His Farm and home with Anna Gabriel was right near the east park entrance. The medallion was located just off the path that connects his former Farm to the home base of the Little Gabriel softball field.

The official meaning of the clue.

“Next to Arizona” refers to Nevada St., Nevada Ct. and California St., this is the part of the park where you can find the (Herman J. Foeller memorial (or Her man)) bench, which gazes out towards your medallion. “Love in a time of Corona” (or Cholera) is a reference to author Gabriel Garcia Marquez, who shares a namesake with the park.

“Little” is a hint for you that it’s near Little Gabriel softball field. Toboggan refers to the original plans for Gabriel Park that had a tobogganing and skiing area right near where the medallion was hidden. Also, toboggan sounds so very near to “Bogan” which would lead you to the (Kathleen M. Bogan memorial) bench. The second closest bench to the medallion.

The official meaning of the clue.

The first letter of each line spells S I Z E referring to the bench marked for Molly Sizer (your measuring device from earlier). The medallion was very near just off the edge of the grass, within arms reach if your feet were planted on the grass.

The official meaning of the clue.

There’s an opening in the trees (arch in the veil) right near the medallion. Align your Smile, is to line up with SW Miles St. (smile anagram) In Indian Jones’ quest for the Grail he had to pass 3 tests. “Path of God” also known as The Invisible Bridge, which is a reference to the bridge just down the trail from the medallion. The medallion lied In a Line from the Presbyterian Church right down to the bridge. “Word of God” correlates to the anagram, and “Breath of God” which pertains to bending down to pick up the medallion. The capitol S’s are tip offs to the S on the man hole cover in the grass just feet from the medallion.
