2022 St. Peter Winterfest Medallion Hunt

It is time once again for the treasure seekers to cheer,
The winter medallion is hidden for an 18th consecutive year.
18 is a special number as the medallion hunters embark,
Especially when you look at the names of many a city park.
People and events of the 1800’s that most parks adorn,
But also from the 18th century when our country was born.

Some words of wisdom for those trying to find the prize,
Pay close attention to the clues and you will see where it lies.
Like Dorothy trying to get back to Kansas from a magical land,
Each and every clue has the details that lead you to win a grand.
To this of which I speak, I cannot lie, for it has been told,
That to find the medallion will give you a feeling to behold.

I like the change of seasons that our state does provide,
It’s what makes Minnesota such a great place to reside.
But with our freezing cold winters, many dream to get away,
Some want to travel to where the palm trees sway.
But for some music lovers, Memphis is the place to go.
A trip to see Graceland can set their hearts aglow.

Sometimes it can be difficult to see what is true,
It may help to hop on a balloon to get a better view.
You may find that it is something you really enjoy,
Even if you find out that it isn’t the real McCoy.
Taking something old and remaking it again,
Can bring great enjoyment for the next gen.

Don’t let these clues break your spirit down,
You don’t even need to search all over town.
Just take a little break and enjoy a slice of pie,
This little refresher will help you reach for the sky.
The medallion hunt is easy if you follow the key,
Drive to the right spot and you’ll be filled with glee.

It might help your cause if you do some research.

You can get a city map at the Chamber I hear,
But that won’t help the medallion to appear.
Believe it or not, these clues are not doublespeak,
Step back a little further and you’ll find what you seek.
Find the right path and it’ll show you the way,
But choosing the wrong one might lead you astray.

Try branching out on your search and you will see,
That finding the medallion can be as easy as 1-2-3.
Understanding the clues could be your big break,
But barking up the wrong tree is a mistake,
Locating the right spot will be pretty sweet,
As you’ll find the treasure down by the feet.

There are many a tree for your eye to see,
You need to figure out which one it could be.
Some stand alone while others are in a group,
Cluster your thoughts then in you can swoop.
Some older mature ones are standing up high,
While many little ones are standing nearby.
