The girls formed a trio named “The Hippie Chicks” during the Watercade lip sync contest Saturday afternoon in Central Park. First place in the contest went to Alyssa, Braden and Ty Olson, along with Sydney, Grace and Stella Braaten, who performed “Oakridge Kids.” Second place went to Chelsea and Cali Ficker, and third place went to Kennedy Erickson, Madison Erickson, and Emily Berg.

A Volunteer of the Year award was given to Dave and Jan Schlack at the queen coronation Sunday night at Bernie Aaker Auditorium. The Watercade Board of Directors picked the Schlacks to receive the award, which is sponsored by the Minneapolis Aquatennial Association. The Schlacks were given the award for their volunteer efforts, which include volunteering for the Meeker County Food Shelf, Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts, Adopt A Highway and Salvation Army, where they raise on average $17,000

  • From enjoying a brat at Center National Bank on Thursday to cheering on the candidates at the queen coronation Sunday night, people celebrating Litchfield’s Watercade kept busy the entire weekend.

    This year’s winning numbers for the Watercade button drawing are 69, 72 and 921. All Watercade buttons are numbered, and anyone with a button containing one of the winning numbers qualifies for a $100 prize. Winners can contact a Watercade Board member to claim the prize.
