2025 Coon Rapids Snowflake Days Medallion Hunt

The medallion hunt will begin on Friday, January 31st, 2025 and will continue throughout the Snowflake Days celebration until found.  Clues will be posted on this page daily.

Rules are:

1)  You must have a 2025 Snowflake Days button to claim the cash prize.

2)  The medallion will be hidden on City of Coon Rapids property.

3)  Any destruction of City property during your search will disqualify you from claiming the prize. 

4)  Clues will be posted on this website page by 8:00 a.m. daily beginning on Friday, January 31st, 2025 through Sunday, February 9th, 2025 or until medallion is found.

5)  The lucky person who finds the medallion should email dianebuszta@yahoo.com or text message to 612-366-1834 immediately!  Announcement will be made on this page when medallion is found.

6)  All notifications regarding this medallion hunt will be posted on this page.

7)  Prize will be awarded to the winner on Sunday, February 9th, 2025 at 12:00 p.m. at the Coon Rapids City Hall immediately following the Community Waffle Breakfast.

8)  Finder of the 2025 medallion will receive a $500 prize!

Our 2025 Snowflake Marquis is of long community fame,

Involved on many levels and Pat Carlson is his name;

He brings a long list of city roles and many connections,

From officer, coach and now councilman to darn near perfections.

Maybe a gentle push out the door as Tom Morris might say;

Off a heavily traveled path an assistant to the Dalton’s might convey,

To capture the medallion of gold is your ultimate prey.

Tom Morris was a Scottish golfer , word putt was derived from the term gentle push, an assistant to the Dalton's in the show Yellowstone is actress Lilli Kay - leading you to Lilly Putt just in front of the park.

Our city history may be short in some people’s mind,

Remember a sleuth to help in your path to a find;

We know over time our long- term memory may fade,

Once known for a fresh connection to the theater trade.

Sleuth refers to former city building inspector Al Flynn that park is named for, old timers know it as city park. Last line references the original softball field which oldtimers nicknamed  "popcorn park" for its short fences and how the balls flew out of it.

Something of Yupik origin is part of the conceptual plan,

From the last to the current on slightly more than a wingspan;

Behind in your quest a span might be cool,

Part of conceptual plan for park is kayaking on Coon Creek, kayaks believed to be created first by Yupik Eskimos of Alaska, construction is currently underway for a bridge over CR Blvd. which could take some to school in old city hall- last to the current references location of last year's medallion along Coon Creek.

This line in the maze disguised in some rubble;

Rocky our mascot is back at it with a historical trick,

Paving his ridiculous riddles brick by each brick.

The official meaning of the clue.

Talks about double train track along park, and the clay hole (Al Flynn Pond) source of the clay for a brick making company back in history. Remaining clues would have pinpointed location in a gully just off the trail under one of about 20 rocks.
