A St. Paul office manager will be Klondike Kate of the 2013 St. Paul Winter Carnival.

Anita Elizabeth Mack bested four other contestants during Wednesday night’s competition at the Prom Center in Oakdale. The five women were judged on musical performance, song choice, vocal abilities, costuming, crowd appeal and “authenticity in portraying the real-life character” Klondike Kate, who charmed Gold Rush miners.

Mack, who is single, grew up in Watertown, S.D., and has lived in St. Paul for 18 years.

The Winter Carnival runs Jan. 24 to Feb. 3.
