Hail, St. Paul Winter Carnival royalty. The 2014 King Boreas and Aurora, Queen of the Snows, were announced Friday night at RiverCentre.

King Boreas is Roger Kruse, owner of FFP Wealth Management in Anoka. Aurora is Abby Hoglin of Lakeville, sponsored by Ideal Printers.

The rest of the court also was announced and will rule over the Coolest Celebration on Earth until Feb. 1, when the Vulcans will push King Boreas and Co. aside after the Torchlight Parade to usher in the start of spring.

Winter Carnival royalty’s first big event is the Grande Day Parade, which starts at 2 p.m. Saturday at Grand Avenue on West Seventh Street and makes its way along West Seventh to Rice Park.
