Next year's Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt will start a week later than usual to fit in with an extended run for the St. Paul Winter Carnival.
The first clue will be published Jan. 25, with daily clues through Feb. 5 or until the hunt's medallion is found.
The usual 10-day Winter Carnival will expand to three weekends next year to coincide with St. Paul hosting the Feb. 8 National Hockey League All-Star Game at Xcel Energy Center. The carnival will run from Jan. 21 to Feb. 8.
"We know that many of our most avid Treasure Hunters plan ahead to take vacation time in January to participate in the hunt,'' said newspaper marketing director Lori Swanson in announcing the later dates. "We want to be sure they're aware of the change.''
The medallion finder could win up to $10,000 plus $1,200 in groceries from Cub Foods.
