Got a princely pug, a queenly corgi or a kingly King Charles Spaniel? They could win the Canine King and Queen contest at Doggie Depot this winter. Because of COVID-19 safety concerns, the annual event is virtual this year. But St. Paul’s Union Depot is promising it will still be “an event to howl about” with online videos and virtual experiences, according to a news release.

Two dogs will be chosen for a spot in the St. Paul Winter Carnival Royal Family. Dog owners can submit photos of their royal wannabes until Jan. 10 on the Union Depot Facebook page. Entries will be narrowed to 15 queen finalists and 15 king finalists selected at random.

Voting for the 30 finalists will be from Jan. 14-19 on the Union Depot Facebook page. Winners will be announced Jan. 21.

The crowning will be virtual on Feb. 6 at uniondepot.org/doggiedepot or on Union Depot social media.
