These 8 tree names provided a cipher: using only the trees that were real street names in Andover - Larch, Ilex, Olive, and Norway, the first letter of each spells "LION". All street names are listed on the city parks map.

"steam" another reference to the railroad tracks
"on the home stretch" another reference to the baseball field
"if you cut it down then you'll never know" - lyric from "colors of the wind" from Pocahontas" - preceding line talks about the sycamore tree - Lions park is on Sycamore Street
"near forest and prairie" - diverts to Prairie Knoll park but also there is a prairie and forest along the trail and it connects with Bunker Hills Park with lots of both
"mind the path" - refers to both the paved trail and then the dirt path in the woods the medallion was hidden on

Lays out exact location - in Lions Park, down the trail, just past the yellow caution marker there is a worn dirt path.
