2025 Brown Deer Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Administrator on
Brown Deer Community Foundation is excited to announce they are bringing back the medallion hunt for a second year, set to begin on Tuesday, May 20. Last year, thousands of people were out looking for the medallion somewhere hidden in Brown Deer, which was found 15 days later just outside of the Brown Deer Pond in Village Park. This year, the medallion will again be hidden somewhere in Brown Deer and clues will be published every Tuesday and Friday in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and on the Village of Brown Deer website (www.browndeerwi.org) until the medallion is found.
The clay medallion was crafted by local Brown Deer artist Jean Wells The medallion hunt is proudly sponsored by local restaurant Café Corazon. The medallion this year will showcase a rooster in the Café Corazon colors of blue, red, and orange. Based on the high participation and energy last year, Café Corazon is increasing their sponsorship and the winnings for finding the medallion to $2,000. The winner will also receive a complimentary meal for four at the Cafe Corazon location in Brown Deer. The Foundation will work closely with Café Corazon to host a photo opportunity and ceremony recognizing the winner of the medallion hunt.

Guess who's back with a whole new look!
It's time to get outside and set down that book.
Apparently, I'm not the only one with a new style.
Brown Deer is emerging with many projects in just one mile.

New apartments, stores, and soon a new park to play in.
Brown Deer is bringing it as a place in the North Shore to stay in.
I'm leaving Cafe Corazon and heading north to settle down.
Check those public places and look low to win the crown.

I have set down my roots in my hiding spot.
I bet you can’t find me, but first, park on a public street or lot.
While I’m hiding in a peaceful area feeling a gentle breeze,
I hear quite a bit of noise not too far away from me.

Originally, you may go around looking for a bit,
But trust me, I am here; so, don’t run off in a fit.
Badger Meter may be the first business in Brown Deer,
But charming homes near me were built earlier here

Sorry that I’m not sorry – you didn’t find me in week one.
My hiding spot is what Babe Ruth did – it’s a home run.
I might as well go get a bite to eat,
And take a stroll down a historic street.

The link to finding me is to search on dry land.
Not far away you can catch a drink and a band.
In the winter, this area had an ice rink not too far away,
Where skating and hockey were activities the kids would play.

Do you see those trucks building something until it’s dark?
That is going to be the home of Ten Mile Park.
There will be a pump track, pickleball, and basketball,
But for now, I’m staying away until it opens in the Fall.

I’m in the Original Village – where things started in Brown Deer.
It is along the edges of this neighborhood where I’ll appear.
Call your friends to see if they can help track my trail,
Looking along residential lots and streets will lead you to fail.

I’m still stuck out here as we start week three.
I wish I was at the Café Corazon patio, but it’s not meant to be.
Instead, I’m settled in some taller grass.
Watch out for the runners and bikers as they pass.

Clue number six, and I need to spell it out more?
Hopefully with this clue you know exactly where to explore.
The Oak Leaf Trail has 135 miles for roller blading and biking.
The portions in Brown Deer are serene and fun to my liking.

Enter from Ruth Place to minimize your walking distance,
And along the western side of the trail will be my existence.
I see the occasional bee, empty bird’s nest, and raccoon.
Don’t be the caboose and get out here soon.
