2024 Coon Rapids Snowflake Days Medallion Hunt

Nineteen sixty-four was the year the idea took flight,
A committed group of volunteers with community focus in sight;
Sixty years later Snowflake Days continues to bring us together,
Coon Rapids events to enjoy in the peak of winter weather.

This year's celebration is larger and longer than most,
Today a Guns vs Hoses hockey game the Ice Center will host;
Check out all the events like the Flop, Sweat and Tears Comedy Fun,
Headlined by the "Common Man" our own tough guy town prodigy son.​

As you travel the streets, the sidewalks, and trails all around,
Rocky our mascot will tell you on city property the prize will be found;
Our winter was late getting started but has finally arrived,
Thus, our annual hunt is a go, and the mystery clues are contrived.

She has lived in Coon Rapids from her childhood years,
Quite known for her volunteering with few as her peers;
For her long dedication to our youth, we should all give a cheer,
Marquis Sue Erickson is the wonderful choice for our sixtieth year.

Fifteen days is the length and watch close at the weather,
Our snow sculptures and ice bar maybe short lived altogether;
Rocky spies a form of zig zag from this start in the east,
Then at two hundred seventy he goes in search of his feast.

Rocky reminds us that a Snowflake button is needed to claim your reward,
Consider buying a few to help our events in the years moving forward;
With hundreds of acres our new look mascot is using for places to hide,
From a distant north body this rambles to near its final reside.

Time to take up the challenge as you check your clues now and then,
A belting link of land defines this thing in a Coon Rapids glen;
Scour the city as you carefully dissect this twisted tail,
Nowhere approximate to a Northtown but somewhat close to a dale.

Rocky says, “riddle me this” as he tries to figure out more,
With hundreds of great options but who’s keeping score;
Unfortunate or unlucky may define this particular place,
Seekers may think just the opposite in this wintery race.

Do not let a hinged barrier in the area get in your play,
From this newer development you are not far in a way;
When out driving in the city you might stop here to fill up your gas,
It’s hidden in view that some know as a place greasy grass.

This season has been strange with winter quite late to arrive,
An NFL dream of this being restored may help in your drive;
Then again from the East if you choose to be fair,
You will be in the company of a rich history of care.

Options are several and paths like chicken noodle soup,
When you arrive in the area do not get thrown for a loop;
Go in the direction that turns away from the mob,
To “What a difference one life can make” is spoken of Bob.

With your thinking cap on and a clearer focus on the lanes,
Keep searching for things like root wads and may be cross vanes;
Two round objects are near and they sit side by side,
Keeping this going and for a short span it does hide.
