South of the River, yet west by name,
A township rose and sparked a flame.
Born from bluffs then farmland proud,
Where quiet strength is humbly loud.

The hunt begins, but don’t be fleet—
Steer clear the noise of Robert Street.
Though signs may flash and engines hum,
The medallion waits where traffic won’t come.

Seek where nature holds her ground,
And older stories still resound.
A place where past and present meet—
You’ll find your prize in calm retreat.

The official meaning of the clue.

West St. Paul’s name has always been confusing, especially with three other “Paul’s” as neighbors, and a west side in Saint Paul on top of that. West St. Paul started as township, until legally recognized as a city later on. Born from bluffs references that WSP was once part of St. Paul, but residents in the late 1800s wanted to have more power over their own land, and successfully seceded. WSP was predominantly agriculture until the 1940s, and was full of hard-working folks. The clue then goes on to tell the hunter that the medallion is not somewhere busy like Robert Street, but in a quiet park setting in nature. West St. Paul parks blend historical significance with modern life.

A park so small, but big in fame
Believe it or not, there is no shame
A self-claimed title crowned with pride,
No reward found here, just a white lie.

The official meaning of the clue.

Albert Park is WSP’s smallest park. A rumor started that Ripley’s Believe it or Not deemed it the world’s smallest park. There was no merit to that title, but people love to continue the tale. The clue is telling hunters to look elsewhere.

Familiar green space may call your name,
But not all parks are part of the game.
In lands where forty spans the northern skies,
You may find a different prize –
Breaking ground that has yet to rise.
Fortune favors feet that wander otherwise.

The official meaning of the clue.

The medallion can only be found in one park. Kennedy Park is located in the 40 acres, and is scheduled to be reconstructed this summer. The clue is telling hunters to look elsewhere.

With questions held at quiet mouth,
Over Additionalland, keep heading south.
Where shadows stretch and roots run deep,
The ones who guard, they do not speak.

The official meaning of the clue.

The medallion hunter may have questions, but they are keeping it to themselves so they can win the prize. Additional is a synonym for More, so the clue is telling the hunter to go south of More-land. The last part is telling the hunters the medallion is amongst trees.

Clue 5

I Went and searched south, was it Worth my time?
A hidden prize, another cryptic rhyme
Not quite full scale, not wholly shown,
A margin kempt, yet overgrown.
A playful sound, a whispered trace,
Somewhere close, small feet give chase.

The official meaning of the clue.

Yet another nod to a local street being in the clue, Wentworth. Only a few remaining parks are around Wentworth Avenue. And only a few more are south. The clue then refers to the location being “not full scale and not wholly shown.” These were the first hints at Garlough Park. Garlough is home to WSP’s frisbee golf course, and the course is buried under the canopy of the woods, and is considered a “shorter/smaller” course. While some paths are kept up on the course, thanks to the volunteers, the park is mostly overgrown with trees and greenery. “Playful sound” &  “Small feet give chase” refer to the school right north of Garlough.

Clue 6

Saturday, June 7, 2025, 4:00 PM

Paths unwind where steps are few,
And arcs are drawn through open blue.
The whisper of a passing glide,
Then stillness waits where woods divide.
Why was 6 afraid of 7?

The official meaning of the clue.

This clue is locking down Garlough Park as the Medallion destination. “Paths unwind where steps are few” refers to it being off the trail, and on the goat paths less people travel. “And arcs are drawn through open blue” refers to discs being thrown through the air, and “The whisper of a passing glide” is describing frisbee discs being thrown through the air. The line “Then stillness waits where woods divide.” refers to a split between fairways. “Why was 6 afraid of 7?” is pushing medallion hunters to holes 7,8, and 9.

Clue 7

Not quite the start, nor nearing close,
Where fairways split and silence grows.
A hill that whispers winds of use,
Its crown adorned with aging spruce.
No mark above, no line to trace,
The prize lies low in needled grace.

The official meaning of the clue.

The start of the clue is telling hunters that it is in the middle of the frisbee golf course. The fairway splitting is in reference to the split between holes 7 and 8. This is also the location of the hill that whispers, with a spruce and conifers atop. The medallion is hidden under pine needles under the spruce tree at this location.
