It’s been four years now that I’ve authored these clues
And if you know who I am, you know that I’ll use
the history of our town, a play on words, or a riddle
It makes the thrill of the hunt just a little
More engaging, and uses more than just looking
As you search this year, be careful to keep your footing
You can look high or low, but not underground
Stay on public property, be respectful, and it will be found
It’s inside Onamia City limits, so go get a map
And as you read through the clues, put on your thinking cap

Will you walk, bike, or ride this year as you search?
The year 2020, the clues used trees; Oak, Pine and Birch
What do you think the words will hide this year?
Look carefully as you read and it may become clear
I think Dr. Suess said it best in “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!”
“You’ll get mixed up, of course, as you already know
You’ll get mixed up with many strange birds as you go
So be sure when you step, step with great care and great tact and
remember that life’s a great balancing act
Just never forget to be dextrous and deft
And never mix up your right foot with your left”

The book I last quoted in clue number two
Is a nod to the book I read every last day of school
You may have to look back to some of your childhood stories
Think back to younger years, exploring, the worries
everyone seems to let go of when being outside
Playing in nature is a home many childhoods reside
summer always brings such freedom to roam
Just be careful not to wander too far from home
Or you may need to bring food, or even some water
If you find some, you may not need to look any farther

Is it water to drink, or water that flows?
I’m sure that by now, somebody knows
Every year is the year I think it’s the one
Where this medallion will stay hidden until Onamia Days is done
If you haven’t found it by now, maybe look to the West
And follow your instincts, they’ll tell you best
this year is different in the way it is hidden
It’s in a woody area, on a path that is ridden
Oops, I hope I didn’t give too much away
There is still a day and a half left of this game to play

Clue 5

“Think! Think and wonder. Wonder and think.
How much water can 55 elephants drink?”
Another quote by the Suessical doctor
The one given here by this rhyming author
Is that the water you see is more than just for one little drink
The amount that flows here could fill a whole skating rink
look up and down as you follow the trails
And don’t be afraid to look past the rails
each and every wooded spot has potential
Look with care, the memories kept here are sentimental

Clue 6

I always hope that it stays hidden ‘til Sunday
My guess is, by now, that you’ve realized the runway
That it sits on is the Soo Line, but where on the trail?
If you look back, the letters of each line tell a tale
I’ve left a few lines without a capital letter
If you put them together, they spell a better
Way of finding which bridge and which water way hides
The resting place of this ultimate prize
Once you’ve found out the name, go down under with care
And from underneath, reach up into the square
