Have you read up on the past? May be best to ask a neighbor.
It’s a game of wits, chance, and a bit of hard labor.
So if you are skating through and only remain present,
You will surely miss your shot at detecting what we meant.
The official meaning of the clue.

Vets Field no longer floods to create a skating rink for the neighborhood to enjoy. This is going to take some past knowledge of the fact to help narrow down your search.

Plenty of white snow conceals our puck on the ground,
Stray away from the yellow, it’s not with the hound.
Nor is it South, to the North you are bound.
As the day marches on there is a helpful sound.
The official meaning of the clue.

The medallion is hidden on the ground beneath snow. It's not down by the river and it's not on the south end of town. Across the street from Vets is Luther Memorial Church which is known to ring their bell on the hour.

The wind it does blew, colors are the clue.
If you are still teetering on it, we won’t keep you hostage from knowing.
In memory to all who served, it’s true.
Our guess is this should help, so you better get to going, going…
The official meaning of the clue.

Read, white, blew from the last three clues is pivotal to lining up where the medallion is hidden. Teetering on the fence will also help you align just right where it is buried. Hostage references the POW flag flown at Vets and going, going is a baseball reference.
