Trail Walk Treasure Hunt

Join our treasure hunt across South St. Paul’s parks. Solve the clues, find the medallion, and claim your prize.

How it works

Each week, we post clues that point to a park and the local business sponsor. Find the hidden medallion, snap a photo of where you found it, and bring it to SSP City Hall at 125 3rd Ave. N. to receive a treasure from the featured business.

Clues & Schedule

  • Clues post on our website and on Facebook @SSP.Parks.Rec.Events.
  • The first clue posts on Wednesday.
  • A new clue appears daily at 12:00 p.m. (Wednesday-Saturday) until the medallion is found.

Park Hours

8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. only. If you trespass outside these hours, you will be disqualified.

Rules

The medallion will not be hidden in or under:

  • School property
  • Pools (Northview or Lorraine)
  • Skating surfaces
  • Baseball or softball fields
  • Underground or beneath ground surfaces
  • Gated areas
  • Construction sites

No digging, climbing, or tools are required. Do not alter City property. Follow posted signs and staff directions.

If you find it: Call the phone number on the medallion right away for prize claim instructions. Bring the medallion and a photo of the location to SSP City Hall at your earliest convenience.

Eligibility & Terms

  • Participants under 18 need a parent or guardian’s permission.
  • Failure to follow rules may lead to disqualification.
  • You participate at your own risk. South St. Paul Parks & Recreation and sponsors are not liable for injuries, losses, or damages.

Thanks to the Coop, who sponsors your group,
In the search for something splendid
The official meaning of the clue.

In addition to thanking our sponsor for this hunt, the Coop, this clue gives hints at the street names near Fred Lawshe park. The use of the numeric “4” instead of spelling out the word is indicative of the numbered streets nearby, 3rd Avenue and 2nd Street. “Splendid” is a synonym for “grand,” with Grand Ave also bordering the park.
