2025 South St. Paul Trail Walk Hunt - Week 4

Trail Walk Treasure Hunt

Join our treasure hunt across South St. Paul’s parks. Solve the clues, find the medallion, and claim your prize.

How it works

Each week, we post clues that point to a park and the local business sponsor. Find the hidden medallion, snap a photo of where you found it, and bring it to SSP City Hall at 125 3rd Ave. N. to receive a treasure from the featured business.

Clues & Schedule

  • Clues post on our website and on Facebook @SSP.Parks.Rec.Events.
  • The first clue posts on Wednesday.
  • A new clue appears daily at 12:00 p.m. (Wednesday-Saturday) until the medallion is found.

Park Hours

8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. only. If you trespass outside these hours, you will be disqualified.

Rules

The medallion will not be hidden in or under:

  • School property
  • Pools (Northview or Lorraine)
  • Skating surfaces
  • Baseball or softball fields
  • Underground or beneath ground surfaces
  • Gated areas
  • Construction sites

No digging, climbing, or tools are required. Do not alter City property. Follow posted signs and staff directions.

If you find it: Call the phone number on the medallion right away for prize claim instructions. Bring the medallion and a photo of the location to SSP City Hall at your earliest convenience.

Eligibility & Terms

  • Participants under 18 need a parent or guardian’s permission.
  • Failure to follow rules may lead to disqualification.
  • You participate at your own risk. South St. Paul Parks & Recreation and sponsors are not liable for injuries, losses, or damages.
  • By accepting a prize, winners allow their name, photo, voice, or likeness to be used for publicity without compensation (where legal).

The medallion is hidden on the Greenway Trail where teh trail takes a sharp ninety degree turn to the west. The closest access point is off of Hardman Ave.

This highway for travelers and settlers you should seek
A good ride will cost you a dime or you’ll be up creek
Railing around and keep on trucking it
Go for a hike if you plan on plucking it

The National Park Service placard near the medallion titled, "Transportation on the Mississippi River' refers to the river as the highway to the northwest for travelers, settlers, missionaries, and teachers. George M. Good operated a ferry boat across the river to Newport for ten cents a ride, the ferry departed from a dock near the present location of the Wakota Bridge. Railroad and Danner Trucking are nearby. You will have to get your steps in to retrieve this week's prize.

Holcim pooling pond is near the area which is in the corner of the trail. Landmarks to help identify the area you should be in off the Mississippi Greenway Trail.

Take the Mississippi Greenway Trail to across the North Pole
Starting from the boat launch or Hardman will get to the same place
Medallion is hidden where we advised to take a stroll
You will want to move quickly for chance to win this race.
On the backside of the placard our puck is stuck with tape
If you should be our victor, take view of the riverscape.

Medallion is hidden along the Mississippi Greenway Trail to the south of the boat launch where the trail takes a sharp turn west. It is taped to the back of the National Park Service placard.
