Trail Walk Treasure Hunt Rules

Trail Walk Treasure Hunt

Join our treasure hunt across South St. Paul’s parks. Solve the clues, find the medallion, and claim your prize.

How it works

Each week, we post clues that point to a park and the local business sponsor. Find the hidden medallion, snap a photo of where you found it, and bring it to SSP City Hall at 125 3rd Ave. N. to receive a treasure from the featured business.

Clues & Schedule

  • Clues post on our website and on Facebook @SSP.Parks.Rec.Events.
  • The first clue posts on Wednesday.
  • A new clue appears daily at 12:00 p.m. (Wednesday-Saturday) until the medallion is found.

Park Hours

8:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. only. If you trespass outside these hours, you will be disqualified.

Rules

The medallion will not be hidden in or under:

  • School property
  • Pools (Northview or Lorraine)
  • Skating surfaces
  • Baseball or softball fields
  • Underground or beneath ground surfaces
  • Gated areas
  • Construction sites

No digging, climbing, or tools are required. Do not alter City property. Follow posted signs and staff directions.

If you find it: Call the phone number on the medallion right away for prize claim instructions. Bring the medallion and a photo of the location to SSP City Hall at your earliest convenience.

Back again go tell a friend and head on out to the parks,
A space for fun a prize to be won enjoy 1 of many larks,
A pinnacle place to win this race please walk don’t run,
Thank you to Angelo’s for sponsoring Trail Walk Hunt number One!
The official meaning of the clue.

Welcome to the 2026 Trail Walk Treasure hunts! We let the hunters know that they should be looking in a park and not on a trail or field. We were bold and gave the park away in clue one with the word “pinnacle”. Pinnacle is a synonym for SUMMIT!  We also want to thank Angelo’s Pizza for sponsoring the first Hunt of 2026!

Clue 2
Games we like to play whether it’s night or day get on out to the court,
No batter batter or squeaky pitter patter I promise it’s a lovely sport,
If you’re looking to play puck you’re all out of luck ice won’t help you track it,
It isn’t my fault if the neighbor comes out because you made too much racket!
The official meaning of the clue.

In this clue we give away one of the big park amenities at Summit. We assure hunters that there is a sport played here and that sport is tennis. The words “court”, “lovely” (love is a tennis term), “fault”, and “racket” (racquet)! Summit has a very nice tennis court for people to enjoy a sport made for all ages!

Clue 3
A pleasant surprise it’s right in front of your eyes search high not low,
Off half of 30 you’re getting kind of flirty be sure to spot blue and gold,
A lot with new grounds brings joy all around get on up and go,
Don’t dig in rocks greenery makes for nice spots right at the end of the row.
The official meaning of the clue.

We give away two of the street names surrounding the park in this clue along with some small amenities you can see from the hiding spot. “Pleasant” is the street that runs along the north side of Summit and “half of thirty” is 15th Ave. that runs along the West side of the park. If you’re standing by the hiding spot looking east, you should see the new playground that was just put in, and the colors are blue and gold. We also narrow the hunters in on a general area by saying don’t dig in the landscape rocks but look for green bushes, specifically the end of the row on the west side in the last little bush!

Clue 4
Don’t give up and plummet check out our Summit to cash on in,
Look to the west, that’s the place to be if you want to be the one to win,
Here’s our first slice of pie look to the ground not the sky on your final push,
Our medallion is round its right on the ground safely nestled in a little bush
The official meaning of the clue.

This clue should walk you right to the hiding spot. The hiding spot is at Summit Park on the north end of town. You need to be on the west side of the park, and you need to be looking down on the ground specifically at a little bush. We also let the hunters know that once again our medallions are round shaped to know what to look for!
