Clues will be posted to this page, at City Hall, Community Park and Kohler Meadows Park, and on the medallion hotline at 651-204-6017.

Rules

The Vadnais Heights Days medallion hunt is open to the public - all are welcome to join us on the search! Medallion hunters, please remember: 

  • The medallion will be on PUBLIC property within the City of Vadnais Heights boundaries. Please do not enter private property.
  • Do not dig holes.
  • One clue will be published each day until the medallion is found, or through Sunday, August 17 (up to 7 clues).

The official meaning of the clue.
  • “Neighbor” suggests the houses along the outer loop of Kohler Meadows park, hinting that the medallion is hidden along the outer loop.
  • The medallion is not hidden in or anywhere near a playground.
  • Confirms the medallion is hidden in a Vadnais Heights park.

The official meaning of the clue.
  • Following the sunrise to dusk is a reference to Sunflower street on the west side of Kohler Meadows park. Sunflowers are known to turn and follow the sun as the day goes on.
  • “Trails end” suggests the small section of the paved looped trail that breaks off and ends near the southern baseball fields dugout, near the medallion's location. Trails end is also a reference to the 1935 film starring Fred Kohler, hinting at Kohler Meadows Park.
  • “X marks the spot” (1931) and “A thousand to one” (1920) are also films starring Fred Kohler.

  • “Throw you for a loop” and “end up right where you began” suggests the looped trail around Kohler Meadows park, the medallion was hidden along this trail.
  • “Look to the trees — and reflect on your plan”, from the medallions location you can see the Vadnais Heights water tower in the distance, with the Vadnais city logo of the pine trees and their reflection.
  • The clue confirms the medallion is hidden not far from a trail.

The official meaning of the clue.
  • A place where acorns fall would be near an oak tree, Oakcrest Drive is on the eastside of Kohler Meadows park, not far from the medallion's location.
  • The medallion is hidden right next to some nuts and bolts of the dugout's fence and post.
  • “Leave behind your truck” is meant to suggest the signs at the entrance to Kohler Meadows that depict a large truck crossed out. One of the signs is a short way down the trail from the medallion's location.
  • “A symbol of luck” and “gem” are meant to suggest an emerald. Emeralds are known to bring luck. The southern baseball field’s pitching mound has green grass around it in the shape of a diamond (gem), the medallion was hidden just south of it.

The official meaning of the clue.
  • “Time to play ball” is a hint that the medallion is hidden near one of the baseball fields.
  • “Overcome”, “wizard”, and “scholar” are all synonyms of the word Master. On the well near the medallion location there is a Master Lock latching the well shut.
  • “Read the clues at the park” is referring to the posted clues in Community Park and Kohlar Meadows Park.
  • “Give it a bold look” is a reference to the Kohler Company, their slogan is “The bold look of Kohler.” Hinting at Kohler Meadows Park.
  • “Reach down and grab it” suggests hunters do not need to move any brush or leaves to uncover the medallion, one could just reach down and pick it up.

The official meaning of the clue.
  • “lines” and “safety” suggest the white cross walk lines that are just down the trail from the medallion’s location.
  • The medallion was hidden within foul territory of the baseball fields.
  • Kohler Meadows Park was once part of the Kohler farmland.
  • “Emerald charm” again alludes to the gem shaped grassy pitcher's mound just north of the medallion’s location.
  • “Triangulate the spot” is a reference to the triangle shape that is on the well pipe cap on the other side of the paved trail from the medallion’s location. If one was to follow the point of the triangle it points directly at the medallion.

A failing grade, actually provides some aid.

Molded by hand, with clay, silt, and some sand.
With close observation you’ll raise it proud.
Feeling broken and blue? Well, here’s a breakthrough.
Where it sits — hunters and dogs are not allowed.

The official meaning of the clue.
  • The medallion was hidden close to the parade route along County Road F.
  • “A failing grade” suggests County Road F.
  • The medallion’s location was just down the trail from the 8 white cross walk lines.
  • The medallion was wrapped in brown gauze wrap, covered with light brown clay, with baseball sand pressed on the top of it to make it blend in with the surrounding sandy area. The medallion was not buried, the top of it made a small hump in the ground, one could just reach down and grab it.
  • “Close observation” suggests that the medallion was camouflaged and was hard to notice. Also, the cap on the nearby well pipe has the word “observation” on it.
  • “Broken and blue” alludes to the blue dugout bench and the broken concrete at the medallion’s location.
  • “Hunters and dogs are not allowed” is a reference to the No Dogs Sign that is above the medallion’s location, we also warn hunters to not go into the actual baseball field.
