They come travel all directions for the thrill of the quest,
From the north and the south, the east to the west;
To Coon Rapids they travel to try to decipher the code, 
Longtimers might help, “ follow the yellow brick road”.

The key to this clue is East to West, Yellowbrick Road was actually the name of a road that connected the East and West sides of Northdale as the freeway was being built.

We all are a part of the physical universe I guess,
In this case, too old or too young a bit less;
The periodic rumor that it’s been found is often a fable,

This was a reference to the teen center called the element. The last line was a reference to 119th Ave the nearby crossing street. (there are 118 elements in the periodic table.)

This clue was to reference the two north/south streets bordering Riverwind. A cloth for polishing metal is a crocus, and bittersweet is a form of Nightshade. The last line again references an element.

Clue refers to Cardinals and Falcons at HS and Middle school. The paradise refers to Zion St. and the indention is the Pit ( the high school soccer practice area across Zion and the north entrance to Riverwind
