Clues
Clue 1
Published Date

The skies are gray, the leaves are fallin’
Forget Oktoberfest—the hunt’s a’callin’!
An autumn chill assails our county
Though look not far to find the bounty:

To far-off shores you won’t deploy
To bears of white you shan’t “ahoy!”
Woods of maple keep asunder
Compass cities, omit from plunder

Therefore St. Paul retains the puck
A park within to try your luck
So grab a hat, be warmly attired
Leave your tools—no dig required

The official meaning of the clue.

- is hidden in a St. Paul park, above ground
- “leaves are fallin’/Leave” = is hidden in fallen leaves

Clue 12

In northwest St. Paul you’ll locate a park
That’s named from a lawyer and noted for bark
It’s wrecked in the middle and leafy all ‘round
Pleasant to stroll, so many playthings abound

But enough being cryptic, you’re here to discover
Where in Newell Park you’ll need to uncover
So start at the Center that’s centered in the middle
Then head to the swings—do not tarry nor fiddle

Wheel towards the road that’s nearest this set
Before hitting pavement don’t you forget
To scan for a branch, an arm of the fallen
Hold aloft leafy treasure, the prize you’ll be haulin’

The official meaning of the clue.

- Medallion is in St. Paul’s Newell Park, wrapped in newspaper comics and hidden in a tree branch laying on the ground between the swing set and Wheeler Avenue
