2023 Kaposia Days Treasure Hunt

South St. Paul Kaposia Days would like to invite you to take part in our annual Medallion Hunt! Visit the Kaposia Days website or Facebook page for daily clues. There will be two clues a day starting Monday June 19th – 22nd and ending with one final clue on Friday June 23rd for a total of 9 Clues. The Clues will come out at 9AM and 5PM with the final clue coming out at 9AM on the 23rd.  Search for the hidden medallion on public land in South Saint Paul. If found take a photo of where you found the medallion, call the number with it to return it, and receive your $300 prize.

 

Rules:

  • The medallion will not be hidden on any school property, Northview Pool or Lorraine Pool, under any skating surface, on a baseball/softball field, under any ground, any gated area, or at any construction site.
  • Climbing will not be necessary. Do not alter city property at any time.
  • South St. Paul Parks close promptly at 10:00PM. You may hunt 8:00am-10:00pm
  • If you trespass outside of the 8:00am-10:00pm park hours, you will be disqualified from the hunt.
  • If you find the Kaposia Days medallion, PROMPTLY call the number on the medallion or message FB for further instructions on how to claim the prize.
  • South St. Paul Kaposia Days reserves the right to discontinue the hunt at any time if public property is destroyed.
  • No purchase necessary to win

June 19th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, & 23rd

 

General Conditions:

Individuals under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to participate in the hunt. Non-compliance may result in disqualification. All participants agree that South St. Paul Kaposia Days, Sponsor and their respective affiliate companies, parents, subsidiaries, advertising representatives, and agent/consultants will have NO liability whatsoever and will be held harmless by participants for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from acceptance, possession, misuse or use of the prizes or participation in this contest. Except where legally prohibited, by accepting the award, the winner grants permission for the South St. Paul Kaposia Days, its partners, and those acting under its authority to use their name, photograph, voice, and likeness for advertising and publicity without compensation. No purchase is necessary to win.

All HUNTING WILL DONE BE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Please abide by all the laws and requests of police officers or local officials.

South Wind blows northward, medallion can be found in the northern part of the city. We remind hunters to purchase a Kaposia Days button and medallion can be found under tree cover.

The official meaning of the clue.

Blink-182 song lyric, answers the age 23 as in 23rd Avenue North. A young know it all is a Prodigy, which is the brand of disc golf baskets found in Kaposia Park.

Beware of Dog sign (care to avoid hound) can be found near the site. Medallion is hidden close to a couple of birch trees (white noise = white bark). Helmburger (bite rare bull) Hill via (Curious) George’s Gorge (stuffed) frisbee golf tee box nearby.

Don’t go to the dog park, so let the dogs run wild (wilde), Kaposia Park is located on Wilde Ave. Don’t search by the disc golf shack, rather search near the disc golf baskets branded Prodigy.

The official meaning of the clue.

Swedehome (sweet home), Nebraska is the birthplace of Governor Harold LeVander who used to live nearby. He graduated from the University of Minnesota, won governorship, installed the state’s first sales tax, and his party held all three branches of government during his tenure. LeVander Way leads into 23rd Avenue North pointing toward the area of the park.

The official meaning of the clue.

Kaposia means “light or swift of foot.” Roaring alludes to the streets in the 20’s along the Bromley side of the park as well as the disc golf holes 20 through 22 in the area. Garnering warmth that is now gone, the warming shack for the ice rink is now gone.

The official meaning of the clue.

Boot hockey reference to the old Bromley ice rink. “Retentive’s” anagrams to Vine Street, which runs into the general area of the hiding spot. “Fly Higher”, Meyer Flyer disc golf hole, is just behind the hiding site.

The official meaning of the clue.

The ice rink is gone, find the hole called Bromley Boards. Putz/flown = disc golf putting as the Meyer Flyer basket is close by. Don’t search the grassy area, it’s in the wooded area.

It’s at Kaposia Park, the area of the park is more commonly referred to as Bromley. The medallion can be found between two birch trees and the Bromley Boards tee box in the patch of woods inside a dog treat container.
