Summer means Summerfest,
And Summerfest means fun!
if you have not yet been to Summerfest,
Then this should be the one!

Summerfest begins on Thursday,
Think you'll need some time to rest?
Although there's lots of change nearby,
Stay focused on your quest.

Walton Park is the place to be.
Starting the twenty-first of June.
The medallion is not hidden there,
As you will discover quite soon.

For the first time ever,
Making its premiere,
Only five days of clues,
One less from that last year.

You won't need a metal detector,
The medallion is crystal and clear.
Keep your eyes open so you don't miss a thing.
It might take some work to appear.
The official meaning of the clue.

First paragraphs same as used in past two years

Rest = hotel up the street
Change = money - two banks up the street

Premiere = movie theater in area
Park just north of 5th Street.

Park not easy to spot.

Last year the medallion was found early on,
In Northdale Park on Day Two.
A park is the place to be looking again,
Just locate one with a modest view.

Take care as you look around,
Keep within your line of sight.
We’d like to give you some sort of sign.
But you know that wouldn’t be right.

Remember, two days until Summerfest.
Your schedule needs to fit in lots of fun!
Find food, free events, and fireworks.
There’s truly something for everyone!

The mention of Northdale Park up above,
Brings the aerial view to mind.
With some imagination it’s easy to see,
In a way, they are two of a kind.

The official meaning of the clue.

Park offers only a trail

Line = several above your head when at park
No sign at the park

Up Above = Power lines
Aerial view of Powerline Park
Park shape vaguely resembles someone pulling back an archer’s bow

Another election year is upon us.
So many decisions to weigh.
But once you deposit your ballot,
You get to be on your way.

The train whistles went silent,
But on track you should remain.
Maybe after all is said and done,
You can campaign to get a new name!

It’s par for the course,
Where the medallion can be found.
Oak Marsh it is not.
But it is on the ground.

Your chosen route should take you,
Past iron, copper, nickel and more.
So switch around your thinking,
And take time to really explore.

The official meaning of the clue.

Deposit = two banks up the street

Consider giving park a new name!

Course = portion of golf course across the street

Iron = golf course; copper / nickel = two banks, more = Platinum (metal and bank)
Switch = electricity – power - powerline

Clue 4

Today is the start of Summerfest,
Tonight is the parade named for Ted.
Finding the medallion is easy to do,
As long as you aren’t being misled.

Sparking interest in Oakdale’s parks,
Is the primary goal of this game.
When looking at our many parks,
This one is considered quite tame.

All year long, the Summerfest Committee,
Plans an electrifying community event,
So give it a try, don’t pass it by,
And you won’t have a single regret.

You might need a burst of energy,
If you don’t want to be left in the dark.
Aha! We have an idea!
Didn’t we say to look in a park?

The official meaning of the clue.

Sparking = power – powerline

Electrifying = power – powerline
Easy park to drive by and not notice

Energy = power – powerline

Aha = lightbulb moment = power - powerline

Clue 5

Last evening’s parade is an annual highlight.
The floats, celebrities, the spectators with smiles so bright.

Let the elusive medallion elude you no longer.
If you’re not in Powerline Park, heading there now
Will make your chances of locating it much stronger.

A path to success is always the key
And the paved walking path is where you should be.
Yellow lines on the path are what you want to see
and the one with the arrow will point to a tree.

Off in that meadow to the west is a short blue spruce
Standing lonely and by itself.
Carefully wander into that meadow through the tall weeds and grasses
tiptoeing gently as an elf.

GLAD you’re here! At the tree trunk nestled gently
In the grass say hello to your beautiful new friend:

The official meaning of the clue.

The actual unveiling of the Park which holds the location of the 2018 Medallion.

The paved path that winds through the park has a few new additions in the past
couple months; namely some key yellow spray-painted lines. One line in particular
has an arrow that points out into an open meadow.

That arrow points directly to a single blue spruce tree.

The medallion is encased in a plastic Glad-brand container and placed simply at the
base of that tree.
