By 1958, Cootie had been translated into French and Spanish for international sales. Schaper continued to expand on his theme. Giant Cootie, a fearsome looking bug stood 9 inches high and measured 9 inches long, like his little brother, the Giant Cootie was a game and also a take apart toy for preschool youngsters. A slot  atop the hollow plastic body made the versatile bug a kiddie savings bank. Giant Cootie was a fantastic success for the ever smiling Herb Schaper.  The Cootie spread youthful gaiety from Robbinsdale to virtually every corner of the globe in only 10 years. Schaper once told a reporter,

“I’m living proof he the chances for success still exist in this country. It’s a land of opportunity today as much as it ever was”

An inspiration to ambitious adult and spreader of joy to millions of youngsters. The neighborhood kids who were recipients of Schaper’s early amateur toy making efforts are now senior citizens. All agree that it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy.
