There’s something nearby
That seems to imply
You are not where you thought you should be
And In fact not the same
As the rules of the game
A place, while there, you can’t see
The official meaning of the clue.

Very near the hiding spot of the medallion is a green utility box labeled CLOQUET WATER PUMP 44 - implying that the area you are in is Cloquet. The area is actually within Duluth city limits. Cloquet is approximately 27 miles away and is not included in the official search area.

The Medallion’s locality
With some generality
Lies squarely in the midst of a view
Please heed this advice
Amid snow and the ice
And give guidelines a respectful review
The official meaning of the clue.

In order to reach the area of the medallion’s location along the Park Point Nature Trail, a hiker needs to pass through a heavily wooded section owned by the state of Minnesota. When you come to the end of the first section, there are a number of utility boxes and buildings with a clear view of both the lakeside and harborside of Lake Superior.

In sun and in shade
This next clue we made
Will be much more than how it appears
Observations required
And if you’re inspired
You’ll be wise to seek out where it’s clear.
The official meaning of the clue.

The main point of this clue is after hiking through clear areas and shaded areas of the park Point Nature Trail, you want to wind up in a significant clearing – one similar to where the medallion was hiding. ‘Observation’ played no significant role in this clue other than you need to pay close attention to your surroundings.

It won’t be a stretch
To seek out a sketch
That’s intended to give a good vibe
And we think it’s cool
It’s feel-good fuel
To help search for what we describe
The official meaning of the clue.

Along the Park Point Nature Trail, several PEACE SIGNS were displayed. That is the ‘sketch’ part of the clue you should have been looking for. The stretch was a weak reference to the length of the mainly singular trail.

A straight shot we endorse
Or indeed risk becoming side-tracked
If at the end you find nothing
You’ll deduct if you’re cunning
That you’ll certainly need to backtrack
The official meaning of the clue.

The abandoned historic ZERO POINT LIGHTHOUSE resides at the end of the Park Point Nature Trail. So if you reach ‘Zero’, you’ve reached ‘nothing’ and you’ve gone too far and need to ‘backtrack’.
