The St. Paul Winter Carnival royal family – plus the Vulcans – will unveil the 2012 commemorative carnival buttons during a public ceremony Friday night in Rice Park.

King Boreas, Vulcanus Rex and Klondike Kate will be on hand from 6 to 7 p.m. to show off the four new designs. The buttons will be for sale immediately following the event for $5 apiece or $19 for a full set.

Buttons will also be available at Cub Stores, Super America, at other area retailers and on the Winter Carnival website, winter-carnival.com.

The 126th carnival runs from Jan. 26 to Feb. 5 2012.

Most events will be held in downtown St. Paul and at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds.
