Treasure hunters, pull out your rakes and Ramsey County maps.
The 2012 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt starts Jan. 22 and runs through Feb. 2, unless the medallion is found before then.
The hunt, started in 1952 in conjunction with the St. Paul Winter Carnival, challenges the newspaper’s readers to decipher a series of up to 12 clues in hopes of locating a plastic puck somewhere on public land in Ramsey County. This year’s successful sleuthers could win up to $10,000.
Clues will be posted daily on our Treasure Hunt page and in the print edition of the newspaper.
“The 2012 Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is a landmark for us and for the legions of faithful hunters,” said Pioneer Press Marketing Director Lori Swanson. “Their dedication and devotion to the hunt – through 60 winters – is a testament to this remarkable community tradition.”
Readers also can follow the hunt on Twitter (#PPHunt) and on Facebook and discuss clues and tactics in our forum.
