2018 Belle Plaine Harvest Medallion Hunt

Submitted by Administrator on

The annual Harvest Medallion Hunt is underway with the accompanying clue. The hunt is a prelude to the annual Belle Plaine Scenic Byway 5K and Half-Marathon races, which this year are Saturday, Sept. 15. If the medallion is not found this week, a second clue will be published in next Wednesday’s Herald (Sept. 5). A third clue, if necessary, will appear Sept. 12.

Last year Jeff Miller, Jeff Witt, Angie Johnson and Ann Miller found the Fall Harvest Hunt Medallion beneath playground equipment in Court Square Park.

The search area includes all of the Belle Plaine city limits northward up to the railroad tracks. The medallion will be south of the tracks. The medallion is located on public property and is not more than 6 feet off the ground. It is not on the Hooper-Bowler-Hillstrom Historical House property or inside the Tiger Park baseball field. Those searching on foot are encouraged to use the tunnel to cross Highway 169.

The medallion is about two inches in diameter and has “Belle Plaine Harvest Hunt 2018” inscribed on it. The prize for finding it is $100. If you find it, call 952-212-1060 and leave your name and phone number.

They say I am a wordsmith, and so that may be true.
We’ll see if that will help or hinder as you read this clue.

Pay attention to the rhyming, of which is not the least;
last time it was north and west, perhaps this time south and east.

A wise man seeks an answer, burns his candle through the night.
But just where does this wise man go to find this ray of light?

So get up off that couch, go out and try your lucks.
Hey, what the heck, the Harvest Coin is worth a hundred bucks!

Do you know what a goat has in common with a pool?
If you can figure that one out, you just may be no fool.

If you seek to find the truth, it’s church you’ll have to join.
But you’ll have to go around the block to find the harvest coin.

If you take the old tin-lizzie down to get some pop,
you’ve probably gone too far; need to go back past that cop.

And if he stopped for donuts, he’s maybe too far west.
Please turn around that squad car; I think that would be the best.

While you’re searching for the coin, I hope the sky is blue.
But a complimentary color may find the coin for you.

I’d love to tell you where to look cause that’s been on my mind.
That little bitty harvest coin is so doggone hard to find.
