Be well equipped before you depart = This is hinting that you will likely have a long walk to the Treasure Medallion.
Hike the tree line, through the passage of pines = As you walk north from the County Road I parking lot you will pass through a grove of very tall pines. The clue directs you to continue past this point.
Better grip on his heart = A reference to Thumb Road that runs right by the County Road I parking lot.

The building of the ship = This is the name of a poem written by Henry Longfellow. Longfellow street borders the search area.
Fight = Synonym of battle, hinting at Battle Creek Park.
Inclined = The critical clue was hidden halfway up the big hill behind the Rec Center.
Pirate’s luck aligned = Hinting that the critical Clue is lined up with something. 
If you stick to the sap = This is a reference to Warren Sapp a former Tampa Bay Buccaneer. The Critical Clue was lined up with Warren Street.

Hall of pines/Calypso’s broken hut = Walking north from the County road I parking lot you will pass through a large grove of tall pines on each side of the trail that resembles a hall of pines. To your left you will notice a short trail leading to a unfinished hut of sorts made of logs. From here you should trek north.
Past triangular course = As you continue north from the hall of pines you will come into a triangular intersection of the trails. From here keep continuing north. 
Denial = This is an anagram for Aldine. Aldine Street is lined up with the Treasure Medallion. 
Take a shortcut = The initial walk that this clue is describing is the long way to the Treasure Medallion. We hint that there is a much quicker route elsewhere, specifically from the Fairview Street entrance. Double meaning for the sandy trails the Treasure Medallion is hidden along as they act as a shortcut from the main trails. 

Here’s a shocker = As you walk the main trail north of the hall of pines and the triangular intersection, you will notice a power box with all its loose cords sticking out to your left. This helps you know you’re heading in the right direction.

The longest night = This is the coined name of the deadly tornados that hit the metro area in 1965. The tornados hit Moundview and the Rice Creek neighborhood area. 
From last years X, this year what could be next? = Last year the Treasure Medallion was hidden at a big red X in the trail at Harriet Island. This year its hidden close to a Y in the sandy trails. Y comes after X in the alphabet.
A end untarnished = This is an anagram for “heart in sand dune”. The Treasure Medallion - Davy Jones’ Heart was hidden in a sand dune shaped like a heart.

Take shelter from bombs = Bunkers are a place where people can take shelter from bombs. Our Treasure Medallion is taking shelter within a sand bunker. 
Land of the jasmine flow = This is a hint at the park name Rice Creek. Jasmine is a popular type of rice. 
Then start at the beam = There is a wooden/metal beam at the start of the sandy trail. 
As rocks break down = when rocks eventually break down they turn to sand. Hinting at the sandy trail the Treasure Medallion is hidden near.
Island rat = This is an anagram for “sand trail”. 
Prairie/open sea = The Treasure Medallion was hidden within the prairie area. This area is a very wide open area of Rice Creek Park.
Decent view = This is a hint at Fairview Ave, the shortest route to the Treasure Medallion.
Nailed = This is an anagram for Aldine. The Treasure Medallion is hidden in a direct line with Aldine Street. 
All dine = This is wordplay for Aldine.

First Stanza = We start by telling you the correct park is Rice Creek. Then direct you down the sandy trails and to stop at a fork in the paths. 
Perhaps a heart to heart = Hinting that Davy Jones’ Heart is hidden within another heart, the heart shaped sand dune.
Excavate the gritty treasure = Explaining that the Treasure Medallion will need to be excavated by moving the thin later of gritty sand covering it. 
Da line in the sand = “Da line” is an anagram for Aldine. The Treasure Medallion is hidden in line with Aldine street in a sand dune.
