Waltz in the park speaks Como to me and the Pavilion, or could be another park that participates in the Music in the Park series.
Definitely seems to be another boxing reference. I thought of the boxing club near Phalen also, but it is kind of a ways from the park. A search on Minnesota famous boxers will bring up Tommy Gibbons and the Flanagan brothers, but I can't seem to make them fit to any park.
What to do when "knees buckle"? Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation = RICE. Rice Street runs North and South from Vadnais Heights in the North to the Capitol grounds in downtown St. Paul. I hope that helps narrow down the hunting grounds for some of us. I'm a nurse, so I saw that one fairly quickly...
Waltz in the park: It's not uncommon to hear this type of music being played in the pavilion on Como Lake. Meet your match: could be referencing a sporting event or perhaps marriage. There are several spots in Como Park where ceremonies or photographing of wedding parties take place.
An idea, you used to strap on baseball gloves, and it was a very formal event to attend, caps and gowns, ripe for the catch could be a baseball, And maybe chain in earlier clue could be a fence.
https://publishing.rchs.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/RCHS_22-02_1987_Wright.pdf For what it's worth, here is an article about the "Fighting Flanagans". I haven't read all of it and it may not even relate to this hunt, but it's about boxing in the 1950's and one of the Flanagan brothers was slated to fight during the Winter Carnival. It's from the Ramsey County Historical Society's website.
Just noodlin' The Boxing idea - Boxing "MATCH" hits also however, Tennis, Cricket and Golf are all Matches as wellStrap on your glove... hits with Boxing too, no other sport literally STRAPS on a glove but it could be figurative rather than literal object ripe for the catch? You catch Fish, but they aren't ripe...unless rotten? lol The oldest boxing matches were at silks grove down the river, So St Paul area. Out of countyunless from there you can see above, to ? https://www.minnesotaboxing.com/where-the-red-ferns-growthe-story-of-silks-grove/ And what are some specific walts names?Play on Governor? Mark...on your Mark? Race? Track? .....................................................................
Here is the new clue

Last thought on Como for today. Could East and West mean Asia and America/Europe? Near Lake Como there is Nagasaki Road (formerly Gateway Drive, originally Lake drive) that curves near a fishing dock. That road is right across the football field of the Como senior high school. Funny enough, the Nagasaki Road used to be named for a road on Harriet Island. "This road was originally named in 1965 by the City Council on Harriet Island. The name was a tribute to Nagasaki, Japan, sister city of Saint Paul. The street was vacated in 1994 when the flood levee around Harriet Island Regional Park was refashioned.”
I don't know that anyone should get on the Como train just yet. But it is worth checking the route and departure times. David

To join or not to join the Como hype train. So, the McMurray fields in Como Park are named after William McMurray who in 1922, donated 25 acres of land (bought with borrowed money) to Saint Paul, which became part of Battle Creek Regional Park. Also, the soccer fields use to be called East and West, but I feel like that area has a broom ball league going on now during winter.

Didn't the street cars go on the east side (St. Paul) to the west side (Minneapolis, Lake Minnetonka) and all around the town? Another plus for Como Park.

I just realized that the East/West clues were the 2001 Como hunt, not the 2003 one with Harriet Island.

Oh yea, I forgot about Cap. The year that it was at Como when they talked about east and west, that was the same year everyone thought it was at Harriet and then had to literally run across town at the last minute. So it's possible they are referring to that year and maybe even trying to set up a reverse scenario. David

I changed my focus to Harriet Island because I want the puck to be in St. Paul but not in Como. The line about East side West side all around town is like an exact lyric as many pointed out. So, what do you focus on, the lyric, the writers? "The words were a shared vision of Lawlor and Blake and recall their childhood neighborhoods and those who grew up with them. It was a universal longing for youth, yesteryear, and place, although it was also idealized because both Lawlor and Blake had grown up quite poor. The search led me to this article, The Shifting Sands of Harriet Island. Another use of cap to mean Clarence "Cap" Wigington like a few years back, Harriet who established a school system, location is right across Lowertown, and Dr. Justus Ohage After purchasing the island, he donated it to the City in 1900 on the condition that it be used as a park and serve the general public interest of health and hygiene. Just throwing this idea out there. I'm sure after tomorrow's clue, I'll change to Phalen. Link to article https://storymaps.arcgis.com/stories/a9ab4aac0f5241c3b7018f9ba579270e
