It took some searching under some trees from the south end of Northwoods Park to the north end of the park, but Brooklyn Park’s Golden Spud has been found.
Brooklyn Park resident Dan Mutterer, who found the spud under one of the park’s pine trees on Thursday, July 24, said he began searching for the prized spud after the fifth of eight clues was printed in the Sun Post and posted on the city’s website and at Broadway Pizza in Brooklyn Park. For finding the spud, he will receive $300 and one free pizza per month for 12 months.
He searched for a couple of trees before finding the right one on the park’s north end.
“It was pretty much the last one,” he said.
Mutterer also won three different awards in the city’s 2012 photo contest, including the people’s choice category and the best overall photos category.
The Golden Spud hunt was an annual event that was revived this year in conjunction with the 50th annual Tater Daze festival in June.
