Hi y'all, the guy who's been talking about the Viking stature, It's in Capital Mall, by the parking meter lot. I was at the hunt in 89' That actually was the year I got the closest to finding it. Was on my way down there knowing it was against the fence, but the person I was driving with got in an accident. I was sooooooo close. And they didn't find it till the next morning. But I was nursing my injuries for weeks. Just made me more determined. Got that close once, I can do it again.
I'm not sure about Mounds. Feels right right now, but that can change later tonight. And I don't think it was a bum. He has a shovel and a cell phone. : )
I may have to take a trip to Phalen tomorrow afternoon, then. Although I think those towers would be more towards the northwest. If I know Phalen well enough, the meat of the park is on the west side, and the towers would only really be visible from the southern end of the lake.

I agree...even if you are sure of the park tonight...It is a cold one...better off waiting til daybreak so you can see. No use getting sick this early in the game!
Well said Grove. Though I really like the night life. A lantern is a big help. You can sure tell the new folk. They say its not up there I just looked even though very little has been touched. Well its off to do homework that I can be here for the next clue. Darn College. They should call it off for these few days.
Queen: The pair of TV transmission towers in Shoreview at about 694 and Victoria. They're visable at night from most of the city, given that nothing is obstructing the view. In fact, from the Transitway parking lots at the U, they're plainly visible. I want to say they're visibl at night from the South end of Phalen, but I've never really cared enough to pay attention. Admittedly, they are indeed a stretch.
gahnzo: there are three towers there just west of 61 in the vicinity of Kohlman, and one directly behind the KSTP-AM studio out there to the east of 61.

My feelings are *still* with Swede Hollow. There are many towers visible from there - that's the clue that fits best (besides "Viking Depression"). I drove through Phalen - I can't make it work for me. There were a few people digging there. No concentrated areas. Some were going through the BBQ's.
There was a man at Mounds today poking around the garbage cans, etc.
Anyone find it interesting that the medallion was at Como in 1980...then 1990...now what about 2000?

Just got back from Highland and Como. Lots of snow yet to be turned over. Trust me its not worth going out until the park is known.

Ares, There are radio towers for KSTP off Hwy 61 that u can see from Phalen, or Gervais, across from Keller Golf course

Traditionally, they have not named anything as specific as a street so early med freak.

Med. Freak, I grew up on Flandrau St. 2 blocks from prosperity. It's closest to Phalen off Maryland, but it doesn't run into the park. Sorry

It is still way to early to get all dressed up and go digging at a park...I am just gonna stay warm in the water cooler for a clue or 2 more : )
