Shamefully I say no. I dedicated today to background research for the hunt. Tonight at 12:30 I'm heading out with my shovel and lantern, whether I have a clue or not.
Thinker. Its been a while since you wrote it, but although the Fairgrounds are in Ramsey County, they are not in the city limits of Saint Paul. Either Falcon Heights or Lauderdale. I can't remember.
Honestly, I no longer have any idea. The more I examine the clues, the more unsure I become. I'm going nowhere fast. I think the best I can do at this point is to share info with those who still have clear minds and hope they get something out of it. Maybe tonight's clue will trigger sudden enlightenment. Doubtful, though.
Correction: the fairgrounds are in St. Paul anywhere south of Hoyt. It's only the far northern part of the fair grounds - mostly the parking lots that are in Falcon Heights.
Well Schlett, good luck....I'm out for a while but will be back at midnight for the clue...good luck and let me know (on e-mail if necessary) if you think of something....i will do the same for you. It's funny because i have read these clues so many times, they are just implanted in my brain!!
Alright, Dogg. I don't know your real name or your e-mail address, though. Also, if you seriously are thinking about coming back down Monday evening, etc., we could hook up for rides.
Earlier today...or whenever, Regalman had a neat idea about Macbeth. I thought that was cooler thinking. I did a search for Macbeth on Mapquest. Turns out it's in Woodbury. What's it doing out there? We need one in the city!
I agree Terry. While we all look for simimlarities to previous years clues, I think the person at the PP is deliberately trying to avoid repetition this year. Maybe patterns are similar, but the results in the word plays are not. Then again every year I think "this is the hardes ever" only to give myself a big dope slap when the thing is found for missing the "obvious". Meanwhile, I find myself wishing to speak to my customer in rhymes........
Speaking as a 30 year hunter, the clues are hard every year. It's what's so frustrating and so rewarding as you finally get to the right park...or frog pond as it were.
Someone at work today was talking about how they could not stand the frustration of all this. I said well...we do have a whole year to recover! She just laughed. If you don't do this, you don't understand.
So true. The most frustrating thing is when you get the meanings of the cliues, they are so obvious that we question ourselves and think how could we not get that.
the only thing that didn't fit at NP was the pace, and the statue. everything else did. Think I'll head out ther tonight, If I can find someone to go with.
I said yesterday night that I'd take a look at Phalen for the Shoreview towers. They are quite visible from the parking lot on the SE corner of the lake (at night, haven't been out during the day). So, I drove into the heart of the park. My money says that if it is in Phalen, its on the Southern end of the island they built the ice palace on. The Shoreview towers are visible from the parking lot (3rd one in from Wheelock Pkwy on Phalen Drive). The area is Zone 4 in the 1999 hunter's guide. My only stumbling point is the opposites attracting of Clue 5. It may be the fire ring south of the walking trail attracting the ice from the ice palace? Thoughts?
Ares, I loved Phalen. Green even talked me back into it today, until I went out there. Then what he was saing was all wrong. Look at NP. All the clues fit there.
Schlettdog-- did you go out today?

where are you thinkin' it is?
Where do you stand today with this hunt, Dogg?
You know what dog, i honestly don't know....like i said before, you could go to ANY park and make these clues work...there is no solid evidence!

It's our damn liberal educations which are screwin' with our minds.

It says in the rules it says "The medallion is always hidden on public land in Ramsey County"
I still have clues from years back imbedded in my brain.
It's a disease and the clues act like puter viruses attacking what few brain cells we have left!
Nensea - The first clue states it's hidden in St. Paul. That means within the city limits.

What parks does everyone think the medallion is in?

So which towns does that include? Or is it only St. Paul proper?
The medallion is ONLY in a St. Paul park.
Downtown Dave is a funny man. I'm laughing out loud.
LOGAN you out there?????

just before sunset I went out to scout a couple of parks. My bets still NP??? anybody agree???
So true. The most frustrating thing is when you get the meanings of the cliues, they are so obvious that we question ourselves and think how could we not get that.
What is NP?
I agree with Newall. How do you get there?
the only thing that didn't fit at NP was the pace, and the statue. everything else did. Think I'll head out ther tonight, If I can find someone to go with.
Is anyone going to moms tonight dressed in tropical attire to win a free SunCountry ticket?
I'm heading to Newall this evening as well. I'll probably show up about 12:45 or so.
NP=Newell Park. Off of Pierce Buttler& Snelling.
Newell Park--Pierce Butler Route & Prior.
OK, I HAVE to ask. Why do you keep refering to the Pioneer Press as "moms"?
Cool. I will be there tonight with bells on.
Pierce Butler and Fairview.
because she is the "mother" of the hunt. If you look in a watercooler dictionary, it refers to the PP as mom.
Terry, Your so descriptive!!!!!!!Too descriptive.

Oh. Thanks. The only time I come here to the watercooler is for the hunt.
I just came from Newell, about 20 people digging.
Terry, I remember you from years past. My old name was Shooting Star, remember me??? (forgot my dang password)
Those pass words can get cha. I keep mine in a folder in my email so I have them when I need them.
Ares, I loved Phalen. Green even talked me back into it today, until I went out there. Then what he was saing was all wrong. Look at NP. All the clues fit there.
DIGGIN' QUEEN, What time are you going to be out there?
whoops spelling "saying"
Ares, you also can see 2 towers on the ice palace memorial at Phalen. Which could also be king boreas direction (b/c it's his house?) just a thought
re: #4471 (cool cat) BRILLIANT!!!!!
Topher, If I can talk my hubby into getting up at midnight to call me with the clue, then around 11:45. I'm just so sure it's there.
