Dave...never had any problem at the FREEZING Grande Day Parade last year. Like Lisa said, I just tried to keep it in my coat when I wasn't using it, but be careful of the lens fogging up when you do that. As far as batteries, the rechargable ones suck, at least for small digital cameras. I used Energizer Lithium Ion batteries and they worked pretty well, but invest in a larger pack of them, it's worth it in the long run to have them just in case. Last thing you want is to be out somewhere and have the batteries die.
Ares...on the FrontPage thing. If you code the hell out of the thing, that's different than using the templates. That actually shows that you know how to make a website. FrontPage is a fine program if you're an HTML expert. :)
I've found rechargables to be very reliable. My camera uses four AA at a time and I buy the ones that store the most juice. However, I know that other members of my family using either cheap batteries or who have a small camera with only two AA, have more problems with battery life.
We use the rechargeables. For us they seem to last the longest. When we went to Disney we took over 1000 pictures. The one set lasted almost the whole day. At the end when they died we bought some Energizers and they died after about 15 pictures. I dont remember what type of camera we have, the electronics are OTS's department.
Hello everyone, I've been in bed this past week and a half with some darn flu bug, but at least it should be out of my system by the time the hunt gets into gear. Can't wait to see you all out there again! Is a big group planning on going to the movie premier this weekend?
Hey Medallion Stallion! Hope you get better, and quick. I know a lot of people are going to the first showing Saturday, and I along with a bunch more people will be going to the second showing Saturday. It should be interesting! Are you gonna make it to the Pre-Dig Gig Saturday?

yeah i just use it to keep track of the links for me.
The problem with rechargeables vs standard batteries is that digital cameras need full juice to run effectively. Rechargables keep their full juice all the way until they're totally out of power. Which happens very fast once they hit that level. Where regular batteries lose their power slowly over time. It ends up being the same amount of distributed power but the regular batteries can't stay up to the full level for any period of time.
Oh, and Hi Stal! Nice to see ya. My flu just took on an added bonus of an ear ache now so I'm with ya bro. I guess Minnesota is one of the worst hit this year.
Not so New Daddy: haha now your NND instead of ND ... I pulled a muscle in my chest last April -doctor was a dope and told me it would go away in 6 weeks .... I really have troubles with things like bending over
(to pick up something off the floor), shoveling, excersising -even lifting myself from a chair with my arms is a no-no even though I do it forgetfully. It is like a gravity thing :(
DDave! I am on my 2nd Olympus and have been very happy with how user friendly it has been. The first one was a real low quality one, but I probably would still be using it if it hadn't been physically broken. Dad slipped one day getting out of the van and fell on top of it, crushing the end.
The one we have now is far from top of the line, but it suits me just fine. The quality on the high quality selection is pretty darned good. I use rechargeables almost 100% of the time....I used to have 2 sets, but only can put my hands on one, so I usually carry some regular batteries "just in case".
I *have* had mine quit working in the cold. But it had been left in the car, and it was really cold! The times I've been outside using it in the cold, I can't remember having any trouble.
Yeah, this is Lina's first hunt, but I think I've prepared her for it really well. She's looking forward to exploring St. Paul parks and being outdoors. But I don't know what she's going to think when things get really serious . . .
One time Scribe and I wrote a book, it had all sorts of parks in it and all sorts of stories. And pictures, and maps, and pretty pretty colors. Too bad it was only in our imaginations otherwise that thing would be a best seller right now, I swear.
MMmmmm...what secrets should we reveal this year? New rules? I read in the T-C.com forum that folks are contimplating the fairgrounds to be open again.
You've got a pretty detailed map of the fairgrounds on page 16 of the sixth edition right?
I knew that- I brung things to the RHB before. Is there food items at McGoverns? You know, in case one wanted an item of food?
They have a full menu you can order off of KT.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I'll be at the PDG. My wife can't come till later, but I think I'll be there earlier.
Cool, cool. Looking forward to meeting her. This is her first hunt, right?

Close that door ESD or Mapey will stumble through it!
Steve- can I get one of the rare 3rd edition THG's that wasn't printed with disapearing ink?

Maplinator? You've been spending too much time on the phone with Jake.

Lets not start using the J word.
Scribbler, I think we've only scratched the surface here.
I was at Micawbers tonight and I guess what I bought?
