Don't trespass on your neighbor's lawn,
For it's public property the Golden Rose is on.
But you can see a pond or lake,
And that, my friends is the route to take.

route ?

so to see a lake OR a pond or to actually see both from a point.

and to stay off someone property reminds me of golf...houses that are on the golf course but stay off them...so houses that are not across the street from the park but actually on the park!

kinda like Jason and Sues yard from the park-they are basically connected by a path -no street seperates them.

  3. Langton Lake Park

  4. Oasis Park

  5. Pocahontas Park

  6. Valley Park

  7. Villa Park (could be argued there's a lake nearby)

Oddly I liked howard johnson, Reg and I drove past it last night, cool little park. Doesn't mean it's there, but still...

I'm going with "Langton Lake"

I really want to go out

I have a feeling they hid this easy

There aren't too many parks to check

I'd like to but I have things to do tonight. I might check out Howard Johnson since it's close.

KC.. wanna head out there sometime today???

ahhh that would answer my question:)

I'll be at howard johnson park about 5:45, but can't stay long.

I think I am going to Langton

I skipped tamarack because I was looking at parks with a baseball diamond. Nice catch though.

It's possible, but really, would they give such blatant info in the first 3 clues? Maybe, maybe not. I still just think the info gets you to a park with a pond/lake and a ball diamond

Hmm... reading over the rules. There's nothing officially stating it has to be a city park. Just "public park property" That could rule in any that roseville isn't responsible for (i.e. any ramsey county parks residing in the city limits)

well I am thinking Roseville park

I think they are trying to showcase the Roseville parks in this hunt

That would make sense, since they gave a park count. I thought that sounded sorta like plug for Roseville parks and rec, like "Oh did you know we have 28 parks!!!"

D4IA - I may be up to a jaunt to a Roseville Park tomorrow morning. I think I drop Mark off at Linders around 8ish. I was thinking Tamarack looked good on paper but oh well- is there a street with Pond in the name AND Lake in the cross street name? anyone?

I decided not to go out tonite...

... but instead tomorrow morning...

maybe to do some scoping before the clue comes out, but I'll for sure be looking after the clue

I think the next clue is going to be the last clue

You see this Reg? I guess I'm not sure which course this is. It's at HJ Park.

I'm still leaning towards Valley except it doesn't have many hills by the pix and description. Although Howard Johnson and even Acorn still look good. Too early yet to move my fat ass out there. Has anyone been out to Valley yet? Maybe a 'no trespassing' sign by some woods on a fence?

Hi, I spent some time researching the parks and here is what I like...

Acorn

Central

HJ

Langton Lake

Lexington

Materion

Oasis

Tamarack

Valley

Villa

now, as for the disc golf at HJ and Acorn...I was wondering if those golf thingys have names to them like at Highland...maybe one has a 'pond' name and another has a 'lake' name on them

also- in clue 2...the first line has the word LAWN in it and the 2nd row has ROSE = ROSELAWN being the route to take- the only park with a pond or lake on that street leads to Villa Park.

Wed, 06/30/2004 - 5:21 PM Permalink
me2

also if we are looking for a park with a ballfield and then they throw in a twist...a ball field and a pond or a ballfield and a lake with the name in the tiltle = Oasis Pond Park and Langton Lake Park

Oasis Pond

Langton Lake

Lake Josephine

McCarrons Lake

Lake Owasso

Bennett Lake

am I missing any? I think the other ponds dont have names.

as far as I remember or saw there wernt any parks with a ballfield directly next to Josephine, McCarrons or Owasso.

that leaves Oasis, Bennett, Langton

well if I recall...that site didnt even say there was disc golf there-it just showed it in the photo-otherwise you wouldnt know it was there unless you clicked on the field photo.

see you in the morning- I am gonna go get something to eat. Did anyone buy a Roseville button and register it? you have til tommorow I think -so hurry up so you can claim the prize with me :)

Me2, there is no course at HJ and the Acorn holes don't have names because the course isn't signed in a way that would allow for names to be written out.

Speaking about the Highland DG course... that whole area is going to get dug up very soon. They are filling in a road and relandscaping the whole thing. When it's done (which will be a very long time from now I think), the course will be reinstalled but will be a dual-tee 9 holer.

I am assuming it will be nicer than the course at Highland right now, and hopefully much harder ;)

A lot of money/work has been put into Highland recently between the 18 hole golf course, the disc golf area, and the Highland high school fields!!!

isnt that pic that CM posted with the disc golf holder in HJ? or was that Valley-I dont remember anymore- or are you saying there is no gold there but a practice thingy?

Wed, 06/30/2004 - 5:42 PM Permalink
regman

It was at HJ

It is just a practice basket to putt in.... therefore no actual hole layout.. therefore no hole names

CM, you have a meeting before work tomorrow right??

Wed, 06/30/2004 - 5:52 PM Permalink

It was from the HJ park site.  You can't see the base so I don't know if it's permanent or temporary. Taking a photo of a temporary basket doesn't make much sense though.

I need to go pick up some cat medicine too.

I'm guessing the word smarts imply that there is a school or library near the park

Interesting thoughts everyone. I'll try and get out early in the AM to look, as I'll have things to do again tomorrow evening.

Timing for this hunt really stinks, I have no time to actually look. Saturday is totally gone, Thursday night ain't good, and I'm not even sure about Friday.

Interestingly, if you look at the Roseville site on parks, they have 33 parks listed.

EDIT: I just realized that Central Park is broken up into different zones.  So they do have 28 parks listed in actuality.

Clue #4 - Thursday, July 1 @ 10 a.m.:
How many Roseville streets are named after trees?
Find one if you please.
For nearby the street with the right name
Is the park where you should aim.
