List 'em as you get 'em. If one is done, confirm it or reject it.
We'll average them out. This is very much a work in progress.

Think I'll grab the rest of Phalen tonight. Anyone know more about 1983's location? The clues stop at 11 and generally say it's within view of a picnic area...

Thanks Ian! Now I know how ya got the como ones so quick :) I figured I'd wait for the new THG before I get one, it'd be my luck to buy the current version only to see it get outdated by this years hunt time.

I'll probably get tony schmitt tonight as well, since I'll be caching in the area, Acorn Park on my way back if I have time. If things go very well, I may get the Keller park and the '58 highway 61 bridge too.

Tony Schmidt I'm uncertain of for sure, the dome mentioned in the clue no longer exists, so I went off of everything else, assuming the new pavilion replaced the dome. Of course they're all open to any disputes, we just want to get the correct locations.

Forgot to mention I stopped by Acorn Park last night too, but from the clues, I couldn't figure out the final location. All I got out of em was acorns and oak trees.

Can anyone shed any light on that one?

The 1971 Wakefield was a bit more straight out into the lake on top of the ice.

The 84 Newell is probably as close as you can get.

thanks TerryV! I was wondering about 73 when I read the clues. Since the lake is still in liquid form, I ended up getting the waypoint 130 feet (roughly the amount of paces the last clue tells ya to go) roughly North of the culvert at the south end of the lake.

84 was a pain since the dome is gone, but in the satellite image (which btw they're all based on 1991 pictures) the dome is there, so the new pavillion is recent, and good enough to go on I guess. Plus a skinny tree in 84 won't be so skinny in 04 :) Did what I could on lining them up though.

Any thoughts at all on Acorn Park? The clues for that year only get me in the park and speak of oak trees.

I hope to get Mounds today. I need to replace a cache or two, plus log the other ones in the park.

KC0GRN - If you figure straight out to the lake from the culvert thingy for 73, that would be right.

I'm trying to remember Acorn but that seems obscure in my mind right now.  I'll ponder that some more.

Tony Schmidt is darn close I think

I couldn't tell ya about Phalen's hunts.  That park has changed drastically in the years between.

The Keller hunts are pretty close too.  You're doing a great job!

76 Keller has to be as close to dead on as I can get (without knowing where they hid it for 100% sure). That willow tree with all the roots exposed is amazing!

I'll drop back by Wakefield (shoot easy enough to do, it's in my neighborhood) and try projecting a waypoint 130 feet from the culvert due north into the lake, that oughta give us some better results.

I just input the Indian Mounds coords into USAPhotomaps and got this as a result. Looks like mapquest's roads may be slightly off. I'll crossreference to MapPoint tonight when I get home, in case USAPhotomaps is off.

I'm not sure which way you are refering to.....

but that road to the east(west of the tennis courts) is half gone...

well again it's a dated image (1991 USGS shots, wish they update their data sometime). But when you look at the coords in mapquest, they appear to be on the other side of the road that's directly south (making the south side of the triangle).

It's possible the road was replaced and moved?

mappoint looks to be the same spot as this.

So the coords are okay then?

I may swing by downtown one evening, got that new cache down there to get anyway, then I can get mears and Kellogg, the capitol mall, irvine, maybe that 7th and robert.. Am I missing any?

King Boreas aka Ian

the coordinates are okay, it's just a matter if I figured the clues right. Close anyway.

That sure looks close...but I was thinking it was a bit further back from the road.  That was a crazy hunt.  Earlier in the week, everyone was convinced it was at Como.  Paul Douglas even was doing the weather from out at Como...and then there was the big switch to Indian Mounds.

That would make sense. I was in line with the trees, but couldn't see the door.

Or at least I hope so, I went to where the final clue said to go. Did kind of wonder how long a broke tree would hold up.... 25 years? Not sure, but I found a large broken tree in the area it said to go, right on the banks of the pond/lake.

The coords appear on this shot to be in the lake, but they are along the bank, taken right on a tree as described in the clues. TerryV may shed some extra light on this one (She's been invaluable verifying these things)

I'm thinking that has to be pretty close - but the memory of that year is one of a new colicky baby in the house, a very long, very cold, not conducive to a good hunt type of winter.  We only got out once together that hunt other than to do some scouting.  Inks was out hunting more than I was that year and he doesn't recall.

And thanks for the compliment!

Terry is just fine.  The V is because there was already a Terry registered here when we got here.

Of course. Thanks for helping get these locations sorted out, great to have an experienced medallion hunter's wisdom on these. I might be okay with a GPS, but honestly on most of the older hunts, I got no clue as to where they actually ended up.

CM - There's only one you too.  :)

KCOGRN - Often, getting older is a good thing.  LOL!!  Glad to supply some "experience."

The year it was at Kellogg though - no way will my experience help.  They moved it.  We did all our hunting on Harriet Island that year.  Hehehehehe

Wasn't Kellogg somewhere by where the fountain is now? Are you talking about the White Castle hunt?

Okay I'm heading to the State Fair on Saturday, and figure I'll get the coordinates to the two Medallions hidden there. The first from 1953 seems pretty straightforward from the descriptions and information off the site here. The second from 1967 is a bit more hazy.

Is there any help you can give me on that one Terry? Or anyone else?
