Clever spot for a cache and a funny theme. Looking around you can really see the evidence that this area was once a landfill. Took the egg chalk and left a Dopey (7 Dwarfs) figurine. See you again in April.

1940 Air Photo [delete
This is an air photo from around 1940 with the current cache location shown as the red dot. Look at Rush Lake to the east and notice that the Army railroad spur has not yet been constructed.

USGS Topo [delete
Here is part of the USGS 24k topo map. I'm not sure what vintage the contours are but there are photo revisions for the buildings and such. Note here that the railroad spur has been put in and a large fill section through part of the original lake has been constructed.

2000 Air Photo [delete
Here is the air photo from 2000. Now Belair Excavating has moved in and added more material the the area that used to be part of Rush Lake and wetland area. In all likely hood they are operating ontop of the old landfill. Cool stuff!

2000 Air photo with old contours [delete
Ah, the evidence. Here is the air photo from 2000 with the USGS 24k contours on top. If you hike through the area today, these contours just don't make sence. One of these things is not like the other, yeah, one of these things is not the same. Everybody!

1990/91 Air photo [delete
Here is the air photo from around 1990 or 1991. The excavation company has not yet entered the picture. However, the area north of Rush Lake is filled in at this time.

1997 Air Photo [delete
Here is the air photo from 1997. The excavating company is in but has not fully expanded to their current extent. They ended up cutting down quite a few trees. I remember mountain biking over here at this time, before they fully expanded and fenced of this area. It's too bad, this was a fun place to play.

Find # 63 @ 3:25 pm
Saw a small buck deer on my way to this cache. He looked at me, snorted twice and ran away.
Took REI caribeener, left small rubber blue bunny in the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Pail. When I found the cache I noticed that I almost had stepped on the (weed). Only log in the book is from John C about 3 hours before me.
Thanks for the cache,
Jon (jonsom)

There was an Ice Cream bucket? Jeez... I forgot to look for the bucket and log book. Oh well... I am marking this as a found. It appears other people found this as well... there were quite a few busted off stems on the plant in the photo.

Where do the Wild Mushrooms grow?

Dave’s Not Here.

Did my little first finder dance! (BTW, this is not the same as the previously found 'Randy cache - 240ft away). I also found the Timmy Leary cache (178ft) and the Coolerheads cache (293ft) while I was out bushwhacking today.

Took nothing, left nothing, touched nothing, signed nothing - left no trace of my presence. Somebody has already been here and stripped parts of the plants -- this cache won't last too long.

I had to leave because I was starting to feel the munchies come on - or maybe it was paranoia, I forget - LOL
